21.01.2022 VCE Careers workshop #1 In another first for AIA-CSC, on Tuesday we conducted our first careers workshop for students through ZOOM. The students were given information about career pathways, tertiary education pathways and prerequisites and essential requirements for entry into University courses. The students were asked to fill in a questionnaire on myfuture.edu.au to help them decide what career pathways to consider, based on their interests and strengths. Our goal is to encourage students to choose a VCE program that will keep their options open and optimise their chances of achieving an outstanding ATAR that will enable them to pursue their chosen career pathway through tertiary studies.

18.01.2022 The final year of school is hard enough and this pandemic hasnt made it any easier. Its not just remote learning thats been challenging for students and te...achers. Some students have experienced mental and physical health issues. Some have had to step up and help out their families more. And not every student has had a quiet place to study at home. Thats why every single Year 12 VCE students results will be individually assessed, and any impact of the pandemic will be taken into account. Your exam results, the GAT, and the results of assessment tasks you completed before we started remote learning will all be looked at. Your school and the VCAA will use all that to get a full picture of you as a student not just a snapshot. This will make sure our senior students arent disadvantaged when it comes to deciding what they want to do next year and in the future. I know this year has been more stressful than anyone could expect but this will mean Year 12s have one less thing to worry about.

15.01.2022 THE AIA Learner Profile Series-Profile of the month- CARING: We show empathy, compassion and respect. We have a commitment to service, and we act to make a positive difference in the lives of others and in the world around us. Abdullah bin Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: Messenger of Allah () said, "The best of companions with Allah is the one who is best to his companions, and the best of neighbours to Allah is the one who is the best of them to his neig...hbour". : : " " (( : )). Promoting the Learner Profile at Home: Role model the caring behaviour you would like to see in your child all the time. Using kind words, helping people without being asked, being an active listener, always show you care about people. After reading a book, spend time considering how people in the book acted. Was someone caring? All of the time or just some of the time? Were all the characters in the book caring or were just some of them? Practice random acts of kindness. Simple things like holding the door for someone or helping carry bags shows that you are aware of others and want to help them. Reflecting the learner profile- CARING during this time of the pandemic How are you finding creative ways to serve others in need during this time? How might you share your ideas with others so that they can help? How might you collaborate with others to provide services, supplies, and support to those in need? Ms Zawat Souki IB PYP (Teaching and Learning ) Coordinator Ms Sarah Olayvar IB PYP Assistant Coordinator

10.01.2022 National Health and Physical Education Day Wednesday 2nd September 2020! Australian school children rank among the worst in the world when it comes to their physical activity levels. To tackle this problem, they need to be taught skills and have better knowledge and understanding of how to lead active and healthy lifestyles. Thats why National Health and Physical Education (HPE) Day has been designed to raise awareness of, and advocate for, a greater focus of HPE in our scho...ols. The theme of National Health and Physical Education Day is Good for Children, Good for Schools and Good for Communities and in 2020 HPE day will be celebrated on Wednesday 2nd September 2020! During these challenging times, Physical Education can be difficult for families. The Photos attached are a simple yet effective home workout with just using a chair that everyone can do at home. There are modifications so you can workout at your own pace. When it comes to how to get involved, the only limit is imagination so get moving, because every step counts! 01.01.2022 Everyday is the right day to say to somebody R U OK? And potentially change a life, but today is about calling on AIA CSC students, parents and staff to learn what to say after R U OK? to keep the lines of communication open when they say they are not. Given the challenging year that many have faced, now more than ever we are more likely to hear the words No, Im not. When we know what to say next we can really help someone open up and find pathways to get the support they require. For further information on what to say next we encourage you to visit www.ruok.org.au/how-you-ask. If you are NOT OK and need someone to talk to staff at AIA CSC are here to listen.
