25.01.2022 Getting closer... Today's post is to remind you that there is life after Sunday! Our OFFICIAL 2 Year Anniversary Concert has been launched and tickets are on sale for this great Saturday afternoon of music on September 26. This concert will be held at 2pm at the wonderful St. Mary's Cathedral. We will be featuring our string orchestra, vocal ensemble as well as a couple of solo performances with music from Mozart, Bach, Shostakovich, Hisaishi and more.... 24.01.2022 It's concert week! We're excited! To show you just how excited we are, we'll be posting every day until Sunday, starting with profiles of all our three performers.... Firstly, Joseph Phillips. If you've been following our Online Concert series up until now you probably already know Joseph. He's a local violinist, violist and educator. Beginning his musical journey aged 7 with Nara Dennis, Joseph has also gratefully worked under the tuition of Yue-Hong Cha, Lucy Carrig-Jones, Daniel Kossov, Jeremy Williams, Chris Kimber, Susan Collins and Peter Tanfield. Joseph has represented the Australian Youth Orchestra, Australian International Symphony Orchestra Institute, Tasmanian Youth Orchestra, Jan Sedivka Camerata, Tasmanian Discovery Orchestra and of course C-Silk among others, and is currently serving as Concertmaster of the Derwent Symphony Orchestra. Joseph is passionate about Bach, Piazzolla, Mozart and Beethoven and particularly passionate about Schubert's C major string quintet D956. On Sunday he'll be presenting Bach's heavenly 6th solo Cello Suite in D major as well as Dvorak's vivacious Sonatina in G major, the latter accompanied by Mary Self.

16.01.2022 Four more sleeps until concert day! Our third performer is C-Silk's Vocal Director Eddie Teng. Da Teng (Eddie), works as a translator and interpreter. He is a member and Vocal Director of C-Silk International Music Association. ... Earlier in his career, Eddie considered becoming a professional classical vocalist but ended up as a passionate hobby musician. Eddie possesses a baritone vocal range and particularly enjoys singing Italian opera as well as classical/romantic period lieder. He is working on broadening his range of repertoire across Italian art songs, opera arias, Lieder and Chinese vocal pieces. Eddie will be presenting four songs: Schubert's standalone song An Die Musik (To Musik) Der Lindenbaum (The Linden Tree) from Schubert's legendary song cycle Winterreise (Winter Journey) Bizet's Toreador Song from the classic opera Carmen Zhang Hanhui's patriotic Songhua Jiang Shang (By the Songhua River) Eddie has a rich Romantic style and we can't wait to see him present this rich and varied program.

12.01.2022 We are getting ready! C-Silk Choir has been performing in Hobart for more than one year! We attended events such as Taroona Seaside Festival, Sorell School Fair, C-Silk Spring Serenade Concert and West Moonah Community Fair etc. On Saturday, we will be presenting Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus and Thomas Tallis’ If Ye Love Me. Come and enjoy the voice!

07.01.2022 Some good news to start the week... We have TWO exciting concerts coming up to begin our Anniversary Series! C-Silk was founded in September 2018 and to celebrate two great years we will be bringing you lots of great music. On September 13th we will be presenting our 10th Online Concert. This special concert will include Joseph Phillips wrapping up the series of Bach Cello suites with no. 6 in D major, but that's not all!... We will also be featuring special guests Da Teng (baritone) and Kevin Kang (violin), with music from Dvorak, Sibelius, Tartini and more. Streaming live from Hobart Full Gospel Central Church from 3PM on Sunday, September 13. And there's more! On September 26, C-Silk String Orchestra will return to live performance at St. Mary's Cathedral at 2PM, playing music by Vivaldi, Shostakovich, Hisaishi and plenty more. Ticketing information for this concert will be available soon. Live music is BACK! But that's STILL not all! We're really excited to announce that we will be presenting THREE MORE concerts from St. Mary's Cathedral before the end of the year! C-Silk will split into several different forms and bring you a variety of music to make up for all the live music you have been missing out on during this crazy year. 05.01.2022 Getting closer to Sunday's concert! Our second performer profile is the newest member of C-Silk, violinst Kevin Kang. Kevin is a violinist and teacher with a background both in solo and orchestra performance. He graduated from the Conservatoriums in both Sydney and Hobart, studying with esteemed teachers Goetz Richter and Susan Collins. ... Prior to studying in Sydney, he gave concerto performances with several Taiwanese orchestras as well as serving as Concertmaster and Guest Concertmaster. In 2018, Kevin performed as a violin principal for Richard Clayderman's 40th Anniversary Tour at Sydney Town Hall. In 2020, upon moving to Hobart Kevin has performed with Derwent Symphony Orchestra, Hobart Chamber Orchestra, and Cerulean Silk Chamber Ensemble. Kevin will be presenting Tartini's fiery and virtuosic Devil's Trill sonata, accompanied by Jiaxin Liu (a founding member of C-Silk) on piano. We're hugely looking forward to Kevin's first performance under the banner of Cerulean Silk!
