21.01.2022 This week, some of our SOMM academics headed off to North Queensland to meet with fellow academics and practitioners for the 33rd Australian & New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM) Conference.

21.01.2022 This week, the School of Management and Marketing celebrated the success of our students, with academic staff attending graduation ceremonies across our Bathurst, Orange, Albury and Wagga campuses. Congratulations to all our graduands.

18.01.2022 Check out the below Fear and Greed podcast, featuring one of our School of Management & Marketing academics, Dr Simon Wright.

18.01.2022 This month, the School welcomed visitors from afar, all the way from the University of Pula, Croatia.

17.01.2022 On Thursday February 27th, the Faculty of Business, Justice and Behavioural Sciences held their O-week sessions for commencing students. The opening gathering was hosted by Associate Professor Mark Frost, who warmly welcomed our new students; encouraging them to ask questions and have fun. Dr Alain Neher held the following sessions answering students’ questions related to the course structure. Following on from a tasty lunch at the food bowl, second-year students, Tina, Krist...en and Ryan, conducted an interactive session designed to help students prepare for the session ahead. Finally, Dr Felicity Small, supported by Alain, Tina, Kristen and Ryan led the students through some team-building activities, including the well-known egg drop where participants are asked to design an egg container. With access to abundant organisational resources all the raw eggs survived the drop from the balcony of 1411. However, through unanimous consent, the most cost-effective, time-efficient, streamlined and innovative design which was created by Giles and Max, won the day. We wish all commencing students a wonderful start to the year.

14.01.2022 A big thank you to all SOMM Staff who helped at the 2019 Open Day events held across Charles Sturt University campuses.

14.01.2022 Dr Clifford Lewis, an ILWS researcher, presented for BizMonth by CenWest Innovate and Bathurst Regional Council last week. His lecture "Putting the Customer at... the Heart of the Service Experience", at the Centre for Professional Development at CSU, explored the three key elements to understand and appreciate in keeping abreast of how to run a business in the modern age. Dr Lewis said, typically, customers returned to a business because it was fast, cheap, had quality or luxury, was user friendly or because there was a level of trust. "The key to customer service is 'surprise and delight'," Dr Lewis said. "Define yourself: have something they can connect to. Who are you? What are you good at? What values do you live by? This is becoming important to millennials." https://www.westernadvocate.com.au//customers-want-a-conn/

01.01.2022 Mark and I attended the Pre-Grand Final Lunch for the Giants presented by Hope Estate at The Star Event Centre in Sydney on Wednesday 25th of Sept. The grandiose meal was a delicious culinary delight. The 2019 Toyota AFL Grand Final Lunch, was hosted by Jim Wilson with a special guest speaker, St Kilda champion Nick Riewoldt. We were invited to lunch to discuss a special industry project; the focus of the project is to reinvigorate the AFL clubs in regional NSW. We are very much looking forward to building a collaborative industry relationship with the AFL (I might even learn the rules of the game and become a fan). - Dr Felicity Small (School of Management and Marketing)
