23.01.2022 Mid Year Mornings is especially for Christian uni students across Perth 13-16 July 10am-2pm an excellent way to grow in your faith and friendships and have some fun too! Message for more details

22.01.2022 Christian Union goes online ECU Christian Union response to the COVID-19 situation I’m sure all students are grappling with the big impact COVID-19 upon our lives and have questions and uncertainties about the future, such as: How are online lectures and things going to affect me in my uni course? How will I be able to keep up with my uni friends? What happens if I get the virus? Or my family, or friends? ... Some of us may be feeling very anxious about these things, and some may already be in isolation, but whatever our situation is (or might be), as Christians we always have hope. We know that Jesus is in control and that God loves us. Psalm 46:1 reminds us that God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in times of trouble and we can be confident in trusting him, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever as Hebrews 13:8 says. So in the midst of that, the CU committee and I want you to know that Christian Union is still on! Although we are not meeting in person on campus, CU is very much alive and online! We’re still here to help one another, and are committed to keeping our normal activities going, such as: Bible study groups, one-to-one meetings, and prayer meetings. And we’re keen to add to that by sharing encouragements, creative ideas and more as the opportunities arise. It’s such an important time for us to be doing this together, in the fellowship of others in our Christian community at ML. By doing this we can spur one another on to love and good deeds, as the author of Hebrews puts it. God’s word has so much to say to us in the midst of challenging times and difficult circumstances! The place for students to hear more about what’s happening is on our Christian Union at ECU Mt Lawley Facebook group. If you are a current ECU ML student (and that includes WAAPA), then we’d love to welcome you on board. It’s for all Christians as well as those who are just interested to hear more or are in need of encouragement or prayer. If this is you, please join us If you have any questions or concerns, please message or email [email protected] or contact a member of the CU Committee: Amber Wise, Keaton Staszewski-Hose, Michael Hart, Josiah Hunter, or Kirsten de Jongh or me, Toni Ollis (AFES staff worker for CU at ECU ML) In the meantime, please join us in praying that God would heal those affected by the outbreak and bring it to an end soon. And that the certain hope of the gospel would shine bright, in a world currently marked by fear and uncertainty Look forward to seeing you online soon!

03.01.2022 Loving our neighbours as ourselves For some people COVID-19 seems to result in a relatively mild illness but for others it is very serious. Even if we are not not worried for ourselves, many of us have more vulnerable people in our families, churches and neighbourhoods we'd like to protect. So we want to take seriously Jesus’ command to love your neighbour as yourself Matthew 22:39. This includes cooperating with the university and government measures to slow down the spr...ead of the virus. These are some steps we should all take if we are not already doing so: Stay home if: o if you feel unwell. If you’re experiencing flu-like symptoms (fever, sore throat, a cough, or shortness of breath) stay home, rest, and if symptoms persist call your GP or check ECU student health page (https://intranet.ecu.edu.au/student/support/student-health (call ahead, don’t just drop in) o If you have recently returned from overseas. Self-isolate for 14 days Hand hygiene: o Cough and sneeze into your elbow instead of your hand. o Wash your hands for 20 seconds frequently using soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitiser o Disinfect high touch surfaces regularly. Keep desk, keyboard and mouse clean and tidy. Avoid touching: o Don’t hug or shake hands. o Social distancing: Stay 2 metres away from people (that is at least an arm span away, your arm span = your height i.e. if your 2 metres tall, your arm span is 2meters) o Don’t touch door handles, handrails etc where possible o Don’t touch your face But keep in touch! o Join the Facebook student GROUP, join in the online community and do let us know if you need any help.
