Jungi is loving the book "we are going on a bear hunt!" however due to our natural environments we dont believe we will find a bear on our bear hunt........ So we decided to go on a Butterfly Hunt! We got prepared and put our hats on and grabbed there magnifying glasses and went on a hunt! We looked high and low, in and out of our garden beds and trees, and we were lucky enough to have found 1 or 2 on our walk! We are planning our next " we are going on a........!" 21.01.2022 || SPOILT || WOW what a celebration today has been and we want to thank our families for all the beautiful emails, messages and love. As a team we celebrated on Sunday outside of the service.... Then the team arrived to work today to personalised drink bottles and of course chocolate to start the day... We were then surprised with more chocolate (never enough) flowers, a delivery from the cheesecake shop and now pizzas and coffee. We are so thankful to all the parents who delivered (got stuff delivered) to our centre. We feel so appreciated! Thankyou for making our day so special!

19.01.2022 || DITTO CAUGHT IN THE ACT || This morning we caught our ol friend Ditto playing around in our backyard, swinging having the best time..... Ditto has come out of isolation since being locked away keeping him and his family safe and well during Covid-19. We were so blessed to have him come to us as the first stop on his new upcoming road trip to visit all the children at the service.... Our kindergarten children love the Bravehearts program and having a visit from Ditto and his friends has helped children understand the importance of keeping safe and to follow his 3 easy rules. We look forward to seeing Ditto again soon when he passes by on his next road show... Inky has been working along side our family of educators as a student and a permanent educator for a period of time especially working in our Junior rooms - Chulkai and Yarum... ... However behind the scenes, Inky has been working hard on extending her knowledge and studying her Diploma in Children Services as well as being a busy mum to her own children. We asked him if he could design us something similar to a picture (we supplied) of an idea/ vision we had and well didnt he deliver just that.... This is 1 of 2 of our incredible new garden beds installed at the service for our children to explore. This provides opportunities for our children to engage in experiences where they can nurture our gardens whilst they are growing! We just cannot believe 8 days ago we set the mission to photograph 90+ children and sibling photos and they have already received these incredible photos back. Here is just a sneak peak of the insanely beautiful smiles we received on the day and how amazing these photos have turned out! We have loved seeing every single parents smile and (tears) when getting these photos back. It is so beautiful to watch!! We have been Empowering and Embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives through our environments and everyday practice and programs. Chulkai and Yarum have done a range of activities throughout the week. We have seen the children create their interpretation of the Rainbow Serpent, explore the colours of the flags through paint and sensory experiences, Reading Dreamtime stories ...written by some incredible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Authors, and of course listen to incredible artists as they tell stories through music all day. We understand the strength, sense of identity and belonging that comes from recognising culture as a unique core part of every child's individual being! ** Always Was, Always Will Be! **

13.01.2022 || ROAD SAFETY WEEK || Due to Covid-19, National Road Safety Week was re-scheduled from the May and occurs this week from 15th to 22nd of November 2020. National Road Safety Week is an annual initiative from the Safer Australian Roads and Highways.... Mr I, was so eager in May (when photos were taken) to show off the Road Safety Signs and Barriers that were delivered to the service during this time. We encourage our children to ensure they use safe road practice when using our bike track within the service and ensuring that when we are crossing the roads that we always ensure we look left,right,left and cross with an adult before doing so. We encourage our families, friends and wider community to pledge: I pledge to drive as if my loved ones are on the road ahead. I will remove all distractions and never use my mobile phone while driving. I will not put other people at risk by speeding, driving while tired or under the influence of alcohol/drugs. I will protect all vulnerable road users, especially those whose job places them in harm’s way, by slowing down and giving them the space they need to be safe. ** Keep our roads safe by following the rules! **

11.01.2022 || RACE CAR PAINTING || Painting with Babies is so much FUN! We explored different methods of painting with our Chulkai friends and this experiment was with a yellow race car. ... We showed the babies the car rolling back and forth through the red paint. Then we watched as we wanted to see what our babies would do when it was there turns . We saw ourselves being covered in red paint, tasting the red paint, zooming the car around in red paint onto paper making tracks and of course smiling and laughing through the entire experiment. It was an all round sensory experience and as you can tell from the photos it was a FUN one at that!! 10.01.2022 || RESTA REPTILE AWARENESS || This week we had David from RESTA Reptile Awareness come to our service and talk to our Kindergarten children about Reptile Awareness and the Dos and Donts when you see reptiles in the wild! David came to the service with some friendly reptiles of his own to show the children and explain who they are, what they like to eat, where to find them and or you might see them and if they are safe in the wild or not!... We had: - Adam the Olive Python - Fiona the Albino Carpet Python - Bette the Black-headed Python - Hulk the Saltwater Crocodile - George the Blue -Tongue Skink - Georgina the Lace Monitor - Trantula Spider - Giant Burrowing Cockroaches - Goliath Stick Insect - Spinifex Hopping Mouse As we know Cairns/Queensland has a lot of animals in our oceans, wild and outback and we want our children to understand the importance of the care and way we treat our animals as well as what happens if we scare animals, and or come across one in our travels. The children loved touching each animal they could and they described the feeling of these reptiles - Some of our educators were cringing at the bigger animals as well as the little ones like cockroaches We thank David from RESTA - Reptile Awareness Workshops and we cannot wait for him to visit again next year! 10.01.2022 || WHITE BALLOON DAY || Today at Cubby Care Mooroobool we are proudly supporting Bravehearts on White Balloon Day. White Balloon Day is Bravehearts key awareness campaign supported by communities across Australia to help educate, empower and protect Aussie kids from child sexual assault.... 1 in 5 children in Australia will be sexually harmed in some way by their 18th birthday. Thats 59,000 Australian children each year. Bravehearts has so far educated over 600,000 kids around Australia, making a real impact. Cubby Care Mooroobool had Bravehearts visit our service on the 8th of July this year and they spoke with our 3-5 year old. Bravehearts taught the children about Dittos Keep Safe Adventures. They really loved this awareness program, and it was amazing to have the REAL Ditto here Child Protection and Safety is a huge thing for us as educators to ensure our children are always safe as well as their well being. 05.01.2022 || R IS FOR RAINBOW || Our Guyala children have been working on the alphabet and have been matching words with each letter. The letter of the day is R! ... We went through many different words beginning with R but our favourite one was Rainbow Our Guyala children were asked how many colours there were in a Rainbow and if they wanted to create their own rainbow. Of course they said YES!! Using their cutting skills carefully they cut each colour of their rainbow out and joined them together to make a 3D version pop up version. The concentration as they were cutting each row out was serious business. Then they rewarded themselves which a huge smile at the end for there incredible efforts. We think these rainbows are beautiful and we have them around our room to bring out the brightness and of course smiles. Because who doesnt smile when they see a rainbow!!! When was the last time you saw a rainbow this beautiful?

05.01.2022 || SWIMMING LESSONS ARE BACK || We were finally able to go back to our favourite swim school C-Me Swim - Cairns leading learn to swim school since the covid-19 lock-down, isolation and social distancing measures were put into place. WELL..... OUR CHILDREN WERE SO EXCITED!!... We had 16 of our beautiful children begin their weekly excursions to the swim school to learn their skills for life... We are so proud of our children and the incredible swimming they achieved from just 1 week of being back into he program! Please ensure you understand the symptoms and if your unsure seek medical attention and keep your child at home until medical clearance has been given. ... ** Keep our Children Healthy! **

01.01.2022 || AH-CHOO HAS ARRIVED || Cubby Care has been in discussions with the elves and Santa from North Pole and we didn't want the children to not feel like they couldn't see a resident elf this year... So Santa let us have one of his helpers until Christmas - but due to him arriving from overseas he must Quarantine as per the Queensland protocols and he will not be allowed to leave his dome without doing his tough 14 days and ensuring he is regularly tested. ... Santa thought it was only fitting that he would send Ah-Choo with a camera so that he can monitor the children coming in and out of the service and get familiar before Ah-Choo gets out and about in the service. We are taking heavy precautions with Ah-Choo to ensure he doesn't have Covid-19 and make any of our educators or children unwell. 01.01.2022 || CUBBY CARE TURNS 5 || On the 29th of February 2016, Cubby Care Mooroobool was born! Wow! ... What an incredible ride it's been! We opened our doors to new and existing families of the service and started our journey in the Cairns Community! Our service has had some incredible transformations over this time. Our biggest one wad the re-branding from our green and white brand to our new logos and designs. We have had some of the most extraordinary moments from the naming ceremony held to rename our service and rooms, being a finalist in the Queensland Training Awards, Our service manager being recognised through the company awards and seeing many of our educators expand their knowledge and get further qualifications in the field. But of course our favourite memories and moments are seeing our children start with us as babies and graduate kindergarten to become the future leaders of the world! We couldn't be the strong dynamic family of educators and service that we are without the community and ongoing family support. We have loved being apart of the Cairns Community and we look forward to getting more involved this year now that the community can come back together since the year we had in 2020!
