25.01.2022 Good afternoon my friends, With a sty in my eye its like an overcast day today when viewed through my retinas, however, on arriving at the foreshore after a big day setting up for the Darwin Festival, the sun shone through the mouths of these two beautiful women! Yes, there is no need to rub your eyes and pinch yourself this evening, the rumours are true, Umkoh, the worlds greatest pizzaiolo from Vietnam is back at Cucina sotto le Stelle, alongside our newest recruit, Loven...ith, all the way from the Punjab region of Mother India. These two sweet souls with brilliant smiles will be alongside my regular men and women, serving up the finest wood fired bruschetta, pizza, and Marky Marks world famous panna cotta tonight at the Nightcliff foreshore tonight, 5pm until 9pm. Another week or so we see the Darwin Festival opening at Civic Park, which to be honest I didnt think would happen, but once again, Gennaro has come through with the goods and its on, with a whole variety of shows and fun to be had in the CBD. We will be there, as well as a few other foodies each night of the festival for its duration, as well as Cucina sotto le Stelles regular nights at the foreshore, as usual. 15.01.2022 Good afternoon my friends! Territory day is here! 1st of July has come around oh so quickly, and to be honest, this year just doesnt feel the same without the craziness of cracker night! Love it or hate it, its a day for us Territorians, and today, we are all that is here in our beautiful little town, city, home, whatever you would like to call it. This time each year for the last 10 years I drive home from Mindil Beach Markets through a thick haze of smoke, past the grass ...fires and the sirens, and remember the first year my dad came up here to visit me. I dropped him to the airport at midnight on Territory Day ready to fly home, only to have him and most others held up at the scanners due to the large amount of explosive particle on his clothes! While he didnt partake in any ignition that evening, it took him back to the days of penny bungers and Catherine wheels tied to the hills hoist. A far cry from the varieties available today, good or bad I dont know. Tonight we thought we might do something a little nice tonight at Cucina sotto le Stelle for you all, something simple, something fun. We have bought a few packets of sparklers from the shop, and we thought as the sun goes down we can all light them up together, sing a song like Silent Night or Who Let The Dogs Out or something like that, (No Kum Ba Yah please) and enjoy the fact that we live in the most beautiful city in the world apart from Naples. What do you think? This is actually the first night I have set up on Territory Day due to the fact that a large number of missiles could come at all sitting and eating, or my wonderful staff, so this is kind of a first for us too so a big Merry Christmas to you all from us!
