Come even...ing, people head out to parks to look at the moon, send up flying paper lanterns, and enjoy an outdoor meal with family and friends. Paper lantern making is an ancient tradition in China and a much loved way of celebrating this day. Cultural Presenter Ting offers a hands-on workshop where students can create their own colourful paper lanterns and use Chinese calligraphy to decorate them. This workshop will also teach students about the history, symbolism and uses of the lanterns in festivals and celebrations across China. Join Mutthi Mutthi and Wemba Wemba woman Aunty Vicky Clark, Geologist and Climate Scientist Prof Jim Bowler, along with Mungo Explorer Creator Jenny Bowler and Reconciliation Victoria’s Lisa Moloney, to discuss their connection to Mungo and it's importance to us al...l. The Mungo Explorer resource has helped many teachers across Australia incorporate Indigenous history and stories into their curriculum, enabling more awareness and reflective learning regarding Australia's true History. Hear more about the deep history of Lake Mungo and reflect together on this significant site of natural and cultural heritage. This story; the reemergence of Mungo Lady and Mungo Man changed our nation, rewrote the history books and affirmed the survival of the oldest living cultures.
