21.01.2022 Tiny reminders in our beautiful garden that Spring is almost here. Spring is the most exciting and busiest time of the year, with the expected arrival of our new bunch of Angora kids. It is countdown time.... only a few days to go.

19.01.2022 Kidding Season 2020 has begun. I found this cutie, just after she was born, learning to balance and stand out in the big paddock with Mum. They are both sheltering in the shed, away from the crazy winds that we had today. Baby is drinking and Mum is content. 18.01.2022 Mohair is the fleece produced by angora goats. Angoras grow their fleeces year round. Currajong Common Angora goats are generally sheared every seven months. Care should be given to keep mohair clean and free from contaminants, such as weeds, grass seeds, and other vegetable matter. Any fibers present must be separated from the mohair to obtain a high quality product.... Shearing days are probably the busiest on the farm.

16.01.2022 It has been a week of celebrations at Currajong Retreat, located on Currajong Common Farm. Three luxe picnics in the paddock for guests celebrating an Australian Citizenship Celebration, a birthday and a wedding anniversary. Congratulations everyone, it was great having you here.

16.01.2022 The radar and weather reports have been promising and the rain gods have delivered. Betty and Beryl are tucked up in their nesting boxes today, and all the goats are shedded to protect them against the rain and cold. At Currajong Common we are working at keeping dry and warm. Any farmer will know what this weather event means to us, the promise of great grass when Spring arrives in six weeks time. Enough to feed the hundred new kids that are expected on the farm come September.

10.01.2022 I awarded this lovely lady "Most dedicated Mummy of the year" award last year. Not only, at the height of the drought, did she care for her own twins, but still saw fit to adopt another baby in need. She successfully weaned her own twinnies, so that she had enough milk for the much younger adopted baby. SUPERSTAR!!

09.01.2022 We have a family group of King Parrots living in our gardens at Currajong Retreat. The male Australian King-Parrots are the only Australian parrots with a completely red head. I photographed this beauty outside my kitchen this morning. Females also have a red belly and a green back, with green wings and a long green tail but they differ from the males with a green head.
