22.01.2022 2020 Mateship Run Post-poned We’d like to sincerely thank you for your willingness to participate in the 2020 Mateship Run and help us raise funds for vetera...n services. As with many things in 2020, the planning for this event has proven to have been quite difficult under COVID restrictions. It is with a heavy heart that we write to you, to advise that the very difficult decision has been made to postpone this year’s Mateship Run, which was due to be held on the 8th of November, 2020. We had persisted from the beginning to be able to bring this event to life this year, but given the uncertainty at this present time, and having to organise the logistics for such an event, we needed to make a call on the event proceeding now. We are disappointed, but believe it is in the best interest of all participants, organisers, sponsors and volunteers. We will be post-poning this event to tie in with our ANZAC Day commemorations for 2021, so stay tuned for when we announce the new date. All participants who have registered have been contacted via email and will receive a full refund. Our team would like to thank you for your patience and support of the event and look forward to seeing you on the start line next year. If you have any questions in regards to this, don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected]

21.01.2022 Remember to Remember this Remembrance Day (November 11). This Remembrance Day like everything this year will be different. Our President Michael Humphreys, will... still be conducting a service at the club, but due to Covid restrictions and being limited to the number people allowed to attend, this will be a closed event. In saying this, we are going to live stream the service on Facebook from 10:15am for your viewing. We would like to invite the public to come pay their respects at our cenotaph throughout the day, outside of the service (before 9:30am and after 11:30am). Remember those who have given their lives in service to their country in wars and conflicts around the world. Remember those who have come home injured or ill, in body or spirit. And remember those who bravely serve our country today.
20.01.2022 2020 Mateship Run is locked in for the 8th of November! SAVE THE DATE. Who would be interested in a 21km run this year to add to the existing 5km, 10km and 1.5...km (junior bolt & walk). Let us know! Last year we raised a WHOPPING $14,500 for veteran services. We hope everyone can be involved again and we can raise more this year! This year will have restrictions and guidelines in place in order to keep everyone safe. More information to come in the coming weeks! #yvss #youngveteransupportservices #veterans #veteran #veteransupport #runforestrun #funrun #fundraiser

15.01.2022 We wish we could commemorate and remember those who have fallen, who have served and are serving the same way we do every year but unfortunately, this can not b...e the case. As our iconic ANZAC Day Dawn Service can not be held this year at Elephant Rock, we are pleased to advise that Currumbin RSL will be streaming a pre-recorded mid-morning service. This private service will include a speech by our President, Mr Michael Humphreys, the Roll of Honour read by Past President, Mr Ron Workman OAM as well as the Ode. There will also be the bagpipe lament and the Last Post performed in line with formal commemoration procedures. Stay tuned for more details on this service and how else we are commemorating this ANZAC Day. We have some other plans and we want you involved. For media enquiries: [email protected]

14.01.2022 Rebecca Zammit, the author behind the A Poppy For Pa book has just dropped off a very generous $950 donation to the Veterans' Support Centre. Pictured with Anne... Stovin (CEO). Rebecca held her book launch here at the club and also joined the Currumbin RSL Women's Auxiliary at The Pines Elanora selling her book, with profits being donated to the Ron Workman OAM Veterans' Support Centre. A Poppy For Pa is Rebecca’s first children’s book, and is based on her own father Peter asking his Pa all about his time in Gallipoli. Rebecca wrote the book to give young children a bit more of an understanding and insight of what war was like for our diggers. Pa has a lot of great stories to tell, but his greatest story explains why he wears a red poppy. A story about Gallipoli, remembrance and why we say ‘Lest We Forget’. If you would like to purchase a book reach out to the A Poppy For Pa facebook page.
