21.01.2022 Great online session this morning for the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre (BCEC) WA Small Business & Impact of COVID-19 report. The most comprehensive & recent data we have on the effect of the pandemic on our small businesses. Key takeaways from the presentation & panellists; Overwhelmingly WA SMEs are resilient & adaptable! There is strong optimism heading into 2021 (although the data was collected before this current lockdown). Government benefits & support have been impo...rtant. There is a strong appetite to invest from some sectors. The pandemic has really hurt some industries, particularly arts, hospitality. There is projected difficulty in accessing labour. And a big one that the Small Business Development Corporation has been fighting for some time, late payments to SMEs impedes growth & causes great stress for business owners. And most of all we, as consumers, must all support small business for the growth & well being of our state & communities
