24.01.2022 Congratulations to Professor Yvonne Hauck, who retired from her joint appointment between Curtin University and King Edward Memorial Hospital on Friday after more than 40 years’ contribution to the health of women and their families around the world. Yvonne started off as a nurse in Edmonton Canada, shortly after graduating she moved to Scotland to complete her midwifery education. A move to Perth in WA saw her quickly progress to education positions and further research whic...h ultimately led to her PhD. Yvonne’s appointment as the Inaugural Professor of Midwifery was a significant achievement for the profession of midwifery locally and nationally. In addition to driving midwifery research, Yvonne’s leadership has seen her serve in a variety of advisory roles, supervision of 31 higher degree research students, many of whom themselves have gone on to leadership within midwifery. Her research strengths in breastfeeding and perinatal mental health have been recognised as world leading. Yvonne was honoured with awarded as a Fellow of the Australian College of Midwives last year acknowledging her leadership and service to the profession of midwifery. All the best Yvonne!
