13.01.2022 David has a grade 1 spondylolisthesis at L5 - S1 causing him pain and discomfort in his lower-back. A spondylothesis is where damage occurs to the pars interarticularis (a bridge bone between the vertebral body and the spinous processes) and the vertebral body shifts forwards relative to the above and below vertebrae. - google it Naturally he has a little too much of an anterior pelvic tilt and a little too much lordosis in his lumbar spine which in this case is not helping... his back injury. Extension in the spine is going to make a spondylothesis worse - pushing the vertebral body further anteriorly (not good). Here we are starting with basics - teaching rib and pelvic alignment and bracing with a more flexed (more neutral) lumbar position. Really strengthening his lower abdominals and glutes is going to be important here (to help reset his normal core and pelvic position). Teaching him to move better with a better core position / muscle activation and getting him much stronger in various movements is what’s going to result in no recurring back issues.

11.01.2022 Honestly... how bad do you want it? Do you actually want it? Maybe you don’t want it bad enough and you aren’t showing up and you aren’t getting the results. Change doesn’t come easy, most people who have the things you want didn’t just get them, they worked fucking hard for them. If you do want it.. What’s your reason? Why do you have to make this happen? If you don’t make it happen.. what is the true cost to you?... I know for me personally and a lot of my clients - we know that living at a higher level of health on all levels equals a better quality of life on all levels. Feeling the best we can in ourselves means less worry & more enjoyment, it means living a more abundant life, it means having better relationships with loved ones, it means having more energy to give, it means doing better within our careers as when we value ourselves more we bring more value everywhere else, it means having a better life. When looking at the cost of not looking after our health, this is knowing deep down you could do better but your not, you could live longer and be happier and have a better life but your not. This is disappointment in yourself. This is bringing an energy to your relationships that is lower than what it could be if you were happier. This is staying stuck with the same problems in life, not being truely happy but just settling for that. Reality is you will find a way or you will find an excuse. Your going to die one day. Then that’s it, life is over. We all have an expiration date. However if we are to experience chronic stress for a prolonged period of time this is when problems can start to surface. Here is both an internal rotation exercise and an external rotation exercise that will help really start to engage the rotator cuff muscles. ... These exercises are both performed with 90 degrees of shoulder abduction and because of this they will also engage the supraspinatus muscle which assists in creating good joint function when we lift our arm out to the side.
