20.01.2022 A SERVICE UPDATE IN LIGHT OF COVID-19 =============================== As a business that provides a critical service to local primary industry, we wanted to assure our farmers and customers that we are following government advice on appropriate social distance and hygiene, while continuing to support our customers. We know that you can’t stop, so we’re not stopping either. What are we doing?... * All our vans are already equipped with personal hygiene kits including hand sanitisers, rubber gloves, tool cleaners and more. As contractors for water and waste facilities, we are experienced and equipped in taking appropriate measures to avoid cross-contaminations. If we should exercise particular caution in your establishments in light of COVID-19 cases, please let us know. * We’ll be laying off the handshakes and hope you’ll accept a head nod or thumbs-up in lieu of more enthusiastic greetings for the time being. We are also actively encouraging our staff to be vigilant in regards to their personal health and take leave should they experience any reason to do so. * While we do expect some of our suppliers to be impacted, as a retailer of industrial electrical stock ourselves we carry a large range on hand and are currently well equipped for your most common needs. * We are continuing to monitor government advice closely and should this change, we will keep you informed of our movements. We appreciate that these unpredictable times can be stressful for local businesses, so we will continue to do our best to support you while we all take the appropriate measures to keep our community safe.

08.01.2022 SERVICE UPDATE: Further COVID-19 precautions taken ======================================== As more COVID-19 restrictions come into place in Victoria this week, we’re also taking further measures to protect our workforce and customers - to ensure we can continue supporting the critical operations of our dairy, agricultural and manufacturing customers locally.... A couple of weeks ago we updated you on our increased hygiene and social distancing measures. What more are we doing now? * We’ve split our workforce into teams to operate in isolation from each other on a rotating roster basis, to minimise the risk of communal transmission among our workforce. If your usual contact isn’t on-shift when you call, we’ll connect you with the best person to help you out. * Our sales and supply team are working from home and encourage customers to call, email, Skype or video chat instead of popping into the office where possible. Where in-person consultations are required for estimates and such, we’ll work with you to understand your site’s protocols and maintain a safe social distance. * You might also notice our front office is quieter than usual, as our admin team work from separate rooms and from home where possible. We look forward to seeing your faces and enjoying some banter with you again on the other side.

03.01.2022 PREPARE FOR POWER OUTAGES We were inundated with calls over the weekend as local farms suffered a mass power outage and sought electricians to hook up generators to critical operations. Many farms were trying to hire a generator at the same time and missed out on one. Others had a generator, but without a changeover switch required an electrician to manually switch their power over which can take hours. Some had a changeover switch, but experienced generator failure du...e to ramping it up too high, running it too low, or switching over to generator power while it was still firing up causing a local brown-out. We attended 18 properties over the weekend and advised many more farmers on their best options, but not all of them were able to get equipment sorted in time. Let’s solve this before the next storm hits! 1 Have a plan for mass power outages. They will happen and when they do, you’ll be one of hundreds seeking equipment and trades. Plan ahead and don’t risk missing out! 2 Get a generator for your farm. We can set you up with diesel generators, power-take-off generators and water cooled models ranging in kVA. But we do need time to assess your needs and get you up and running, so contact us before trouble hits. 3 Add a changeover switch to your switchboard, so you can easily move from mains to generator power yourself during an outage. 4 Refresh your training in generator operation to avoid failure in critical moments. If you’d be interested in attending a local training session, please express your interest - we’ll assess the response and be in touch! Got another question? Give us a call on 5622 3516 to talk to one of our electricians. See more

02.01.2022 Around 10am last Saturday we took a desperate call from a customer with a rotary dairy who'd suffered a total loss of their main switchboard and wiring. By midday we had a full team with materials on site and by 9:30pm our very relieved farmer was back milking his herd! The boys were pretty chuffed to see this message on the wall afterwards. A big thanks to Russ at Daviesway too, who took care of the mechanics and pipes. As we enter the holiday period, remember Cutting Edge's 24-hour emergency call out service continues to operate over public holidays. Put our number in your phone to get help ASAP when you need it most! Call 5622 3516 and you'll automatically reach our team on call after hours.
