25.01.2022 We have had the pleasure of supporting Slabs for Heroes who have been so generously giving their time over this busy bushfire season preparing care packs, snack packs and much needed supplies to support our firies. No doubt their services will be needed in future seasons. We have donated 3 bikes to help raise valuable funds for this great cause. Go to Allbids.com.au and make a bid. bidding is still way below market value so you may get a bargain. The SE bike https://www.allbi...ds.com.au//se-om-flyer-pushbike-ex-displa was never ridden just a scratch on the frame. The 2 Dual suspension fuji bikes the smaller 17" https://www.allbids.com.au//fuji-rakan-dual-suspension-pus was ridden once on dirt and the larger 19" https://www.allbids.com.au//fuji-rakan-dual-suspension-pus was my personal bike that only had about a dozen rides. Both were worth over $4000 each new. See more
21.01.2022 Saw this post today. I see horse riders on trails a fair bit as I ride a gravel bike 2 -3 times a week. Have always slowed down and stopped if needed. I have worked with horses and am aware how easy they can be spooked. Lets share the paths safely. Only takes a minute to show courtesy.
21.01.2022 Due to the current smoke levels in canberra and health warnings. Cycle canberra will be closed for hire over the weekend and will reassess monday morning the 6th january. Stay safe over the weekend everybody. Rohan
21.01.2022 The smoke has reduced considerably and is no longer at extreme levels. Though an easterly wind can bring the smoke back. We will monitor each morning and advise levels as people book. We will leave it up to you whether you want to ride or not.

16.01.2022 Thanks to all the riders who came out today to encourage and inspire more Canberra women to ride. If you know a women who is missing out on the significant and ...varied benefits of cycling, share this video with them today and encourage them to take the first step towards active travel. Riding is not only for people who like Lycra and speed. It's also for ordinary people who wear ordinary clothes and who want to use a healthy emission free way to get from A to B.
16.01.2022 What to do when bike riders and horse riders meet Many people are currently exploring our local reserves tracks and trails by bike and on horseback. To avoid ac...cidents, its important for cyclists to know the appropriate behaviour around horses. Horses are prey animals and read their environment from that perspective. They have almost 360 degree vision but it is not all 3D so they can overreact to surprises. They have a blind spot at their rear end. They have very acute hearing and react to sounds much earlier than you expect. They have lightening reaction times so a frightened horse is a danger to you, the rider and bystanders. So please: Don't speed around horses Give way to horses you meet in shared spaces especially in underpasses or near roads Don't ring bells as they may startle a horse calling out to the horse rider to let them know you would like to pass is far more preferable. Stop to give horse riders time to position their horses for safety and then pass slowly Give horses plenty of room. It is advisable not to pass within a metre of a horse as they may kick if startled and have considerable reach and power. Equestrian Park Stromlo Forest Park ACT Parks and Conservation Service

15.01.2022 Just an echidna that visited my garden. So exciting! Echidnas eat ants and termites. They are monotremes, like their cousin the platypus - they are mammals that... lay eggs. The echidna has a pouch and the baby (called a puggle) lives in the pouch until it is about three months old - when it starts to get its spines. Their snouts are leathery strong and can break open termite nests and logs, in the search for food. They are clever diggers and quickly burrow when threatened. Stay away from the road, precious. Yep, the #bushcapital We certainly live in a fabulous place! #canberrasecrets #canberrasecretstours #visitcanberra #nativeanimals #echidna See more

11.01.2022 ACT Health has today imposed border restrictions on people in certain areas of NSW. People from the Greater Sydney, Central Coast, Wollongong, and Nepean Blue M...ountains regions have been told not to come to Canberra. UPDATE: ACT Health has said it wrongly included Shoalhaven in the new border restrictions. Canberra residents returning from those same areas will have to quarantine if they arrive after 11:59pm tonight. All travellers from those areas will have to fill in an online declaration form, which will be available at the ACT Health website later this evening. Penalties will apply to those who do not follow these rules, ACT Chief Health Officer Kerryn Coleman said. "What we are trying to achieve here is to prevent seeding of the virus any further," she said. The restrictions were introduced as the COVID-19 cluster linked to Sydney's Northern Beaches continues to grow. Read more: https://ab.co/3pfpw4x

10.01.2022 Just had 3 blokes from Sydney ring up to hire bikes for the day. Obviously not taking social distancing and travel warnings seriously. We at Cycle Canberra are taking social distancing seriously to help the most vulnerable in our community. The guidelines are to ride or exercise no more than 2 people together. I have refused the hire even though we desperately need the money. Have a great day.
