22.01.2022 IMPORTANT EMAIL has been sent to Team Secretaries- Dear Team Secretary, After recently opening team entries (via our Facebook page) for a return to competition scheduled for the 26th July, we have made a decision to postpone our return until the 23rd August.... Prior to even sending out a formal invitation to the teams/clubs, we had a meeting with our fellow MSAC competitions and concluded that due to the rising Covid infection rate, it was not a suitable time to be re-commencing competition. In the interests of the health and safety of all our participants we are suspending the entry process and will re-schedule it to early August. We will hold onto the entries for teams that have already re-entered. Our intention has now moved from having a shortened Winter season to having a series of social games (over 6 weeks) for everyone to get back into the swing of things, prior scheduling a full Summer season commencing in early October. We will give you more details at a later date. In the meantime we will keep you updated via our Facebook page. We hope you continue to stay well and look forward to seeing you back at the stadium. Deirdre Boyd Secretary CYMS Basketball Phone: 0409 634 278 (Sunday Nights also)

17.01.2022 Important - Registrations close on Sunday 24 January!! Our secretary has sent out the following information: Hello everyone... Happy New Year to you all! looking forward to a great year of basketball in 2021! This is your reminder to register as soon as you can for the CYMS Summer 2021 season. See below for full details of how to go about this but here are the key points: - registrations close Sunday, 24 January - teams will be accepted on a "first come first served" basis because we have fewer courts available this season and cannot accept as many teams - registrations must be completed online - go to www.cymsbasketball.org.au - players must register as well or they will not be able to play there is no team registration fee (this season only) but players must now pay an annual registration fee to Basketball Victoria (BV) current BV player registration fees are: - $25 - Child/Junior (17 and under) - $39 - Adult/Senior (18 and over) If your team is not returning I would appreciate you letting me know please. And if you have any questions, just drop me an email. Many thanks, Deirdre

08.01.2022 A message from the CYMS President, Michael Goold: We hope that everyone had been keeping well during the extended lockdown. It's great that numbers are down and hopefully that means we will get to see you back playing basketball again. At this stage, we are still waiting on direction from the government regarding a return date.... In the meantime, please stay safe and well. Michael
08.01.2022 Please wear your mask until your game starts, thank you!
08.01.2022 An important message from CYMS President, Michael Goold: I trust that you, your family and friends are well and you are all coping with the isolation put on us all by the Covid 19 virus. Due to our prolonged absence from basketball, you may have forgotten that this Sunday, 3rd May, was to be the first night of competition for our Winter Season.... Whilst we do not know when we will be resuming, we are putting together our competition in readiness for a resumption when given the go-ahead from the authorities. We have been receiving regular updates from our governing body, Basketball Victoria, and they are in regular contact with the relevant authorities to monitor the situation around the game re-commencing at domestic level. At this stage all competitions are suspended until May 31. Please follow the link to BV for more information and updates. http://basketballvictoria.com.au/covid-19/ You will also find further information regarding the suspension of the annual player fee paid by those players who have already registered under the new Play HQ system. For those unfamiliar with it, every player in Victoria will have to register and pay a fee directly to Basketball Victoria, to be registered and eligible to play in any affiliated competition. Our Secretary, Deirdre, will include further information on this when she sends out the entry form in coming days. As just mentioned, the new season entry forms will be sent out shortly. As we had to bring an unfortunate abrupt end to our season with no conclusion due to the Coronavirus restrictions, we will be grading teams for the new season based on their ladder positions at that time. We look forward to seeing you and your players back at MSAC sooner rather than later. Stay well and stay positive. Regards, Michael Goold, President, CYMS Basketball.
