25.01.2022 Thought I would share some photos of what I deal with on a daily basis. All the reels here were saved and lived to fight another day. Some of the parts costs boarded on scrapping the reel, Dont let your reel get to the state of these reels, nothing beats regular servicing to avoid high parts costs. If you drop your reel into salt water hose it off with fresh and get it serviced as soon as possible as some of the photos are the result of doing nothing and leaving it for a few months, this is too long it will need to be done ASAP.

25.01.2022 Great example of regular servicing. All that was required was a full service, the only parts required were two line roller bearings. Total cost $80.00 more than reasonable to keep the reel in A1 working order. Dont let your reels get to the point that they are costing you $$$$ in parts and labour or failing when your onto that fish of a life time.

25.01.2022 Nice slab of Bay Jew on the weekend went 12kg on 8lb exact depth braid and a 10lb leader on a scrap of bait just mucking around, sometimes you just get lucky. #reelrepairsaustralia #exactdepthbraid #minnrepairs

11.01.2022 Customer complaint, reel has very tight spot when you wind it. Fortunately once problem was felt he didnt use it and this would of no doubt saved him money as there was no other damage to the reel, reel was stripped down, main shaft removed. Shaft was then straightened and reel reassembled and as good as new.

10.01.2022 Had a great weekend up at Awoonga, nice way to open the account with a 93cm the best I got for the trip. A big Thankyou to Mark Peterson for the invite and putt...ing me onto a great fish. 08.01.2022 Spring is nearly upon us, and the water temp is already starting to rise, this means Jack season is about to start, may I suggest that its time to pull out your Jack Reels and go through them as the last thing you want is a reel that isnt performing and looses you that fish of a lifetime. If you require your reels serviced or drag upgrades get in before the rush, you can either drop them off to us via appointment directly or if you are on the North Side for convenience you can drop them into TackleWorld Lawnton as we pick up on a weekly basis. Maintained reels are reliable reels. #tackleworldlawnton

04.01.2022 Hi everyone, so as most of you will be aware that we are moving and let me say after being in the same place for 50 years there is a lot to move. So please bare with us while we relocate not only the business but our home. We will have a new name also being Reel Repairs Australia, all our other details will remain the same our new address will be 37 Melaleuca Drive Capalaba, we will reopen on the 20th of June 2019 by appointment as before. I do apologise for the inconvenience that this might cause to our customers, as I took some time off to catch up on work, then have a holiday but ended up selling my house and having to find another, then to top it off I am currently laid up with a bad back which is very frustrating with so much to do. Thanks in advance for your patience during this process. Regards Duncan

04.01.2022 Just letting every body know that we will be closed from the 28th of Feb until the 12 of March as Im off to NZ to chase Stripped Marlin and of course the by catch. I wont have much service if any. I will be back on deck before Easter so check you reels before then and get them in if you have any issues.

04.01.2022 Custom cut Carbontex Drag washers for Jigging Master. Customer complaint of lumpy drag, found original drag washers starting to break up, so we updated them to Carbontex. Washers were hand cut and fitted dry first. Then lubed with drag grease and fitted ready for assembly, decided to fit as wet drags to help stop corrosion of spool as the design of the drag system has no cover over it. Customer also asked for handle knob / T Handle swapped from one reel to the other, problem found that one post was already loose as it did not have the handle shank spigot incorporated with the post, so bit of stainless bar into the lathe, bored correct hole for the screw and turned down to correct size for handle shank also extra spigot to fit into base of handle post. This is required to keep the handle post tight.

03.01.2022 Todays video is a cracker! Priceless insights talking with a reel serviceman. 20 years servicing experience and literally 1000s of reels have passed through his hands. Check it out on my YouTube Channel.

03.01.2022 Parcels that arrived this morning from Cairns to Melbourne and a few places in between and here I was thinking that I might sneak off for a quick fish. So dont be afraid to send us your reels via post we love mail order. All details can be found at www.reelrepairs.com.au

02.01.2022 Reel Daiwa Punch 10 01 carried out full service and repair handle. I must admit when I opened up the box that arrived in the post I was a bit taken back at the state of the reel. I rang the customer and explained that all we can do is our best, he asked for it to be done due to the sentimental value to him. I went through a box of old broken handles and found a knob the right colour, shape and era for the reel. Had to remove knob from old handle, drill out the centre to correct size and make up a spacer bush to suit. Reel was cleaned, ultrasonically cleaned, then remaining corrosion buffed off. All parts were freed up from line roller to anti reverse. I managed to get it all working including the bail return. This reel is a oldie but still all works after a bit of TLC.

02.01.2022 D&H Reel Repairs now re-spooling with Exact Depth Braid, Made in Japan colour change, I have been using this braid for a couple of years now and no complaints. King fish caught from the shore on 30lb Exact Depth Braid. Talk to me about a re-spool when you next get your reel serviced.

02.01.2022 Another custom built Abu 4601 out of a 6501. Built for Edmund Frondozo, build 6.3:1 gear ratio, duel ball bearing worm, ceramic pawl, ball bearing idler gear, oversized star drag, single thumb bar release, upgraded drag with custom cut Carbontex drag washers, custom 95mm alloy handle with Eva grips. Edmund and I had a few casts and tested out the drag, casting got heaps of distance and the drag was smooth as. This reel will stop the big ones, I hope you get a fish that puts it to the test, enjoy.

01.01.2022 We are currently closed till the 6th of January 2020. Helen and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has supported us in 2019 and hope that 2020 is prosperous for all of us. Have a safe and happy new year.

01.01.2022 Bit of a makeover for the old rig has the 24 year old Quintrex looking fresh. New Motor New Paint New wrap

01.01.2022 Just letting everyone know that as from today we will be on holidays for the next few weeks, this week getting out queued reels and finish off some jobs, then fish on. Sorry for any inconvenience that this might cause.

01.01.2022 Another custom built Abu 4600. Built for Micheal Ma, build 6.3:1 gear ratio, duel ball bearing worm, ceramic pawl, ball bearing idler gear, single thumb bar release, upgraded drag with custom cut Carbontex drag washers, standard gold handle. Spooled with 450 meters of 14lb exact depth braid, Micheal and I had a few casts and set up the reel for him, then tested out the drag, casting got heaps of distance and the drag was smooth as. Micheal is a land based fisho, he will get the distance that he needs and it will stop what ever he gets on the end. I hope you get a fish of a life time and put the reel to the test, enjoy.
