21.01.2022 I found a poem I wrote for @willandmadi almost a decade ago It was to help her understand how I see the world and how it makes me feel. I hope that this helps the friend, partner or family of someone suffering mental illness understand what it may feel like and why we sometimes don't act what is perceived to be normal Every humans mental health journey and story is different. I don't pretend to have the knowledge of their experiences, but this is from past me life. This is st...ill sometimes very accurate We can all see, taste, smell and feel things differently but are often told that we must feel them a particular way but what if we can't We are then forced to mask what our true selves are and pretend to be what we have been told to be or become. As I use to tell my Uni buddies I am always happy to answer questions. I share this in the hope it helps someone understand a person they know just a little bit more. "You wake up on a beach, the water is hot, the sun is cold, the sand like fragments of ice You are wearing a scarf, jacket, pants but no shoes and no hair on your head You pick up your surf board made of lead and jump into the water, it floats; you struggle to keep your balance Each time you fall into the water your clothes stiffen and dry. Your scalf tightens, your feat and head blister You fall off once more and wash up to the shore. You plant your board and your clothing begins to shred to the ice, this is where you lay The heat of your body makes you melt into the sand; briefly after, the pain of the blisters is gone The sand begins to freeze once more with you stuck in place. Your face is all that is above the ground, the rest is lost below You breathe but it slows, you're not cold but you know your body is numb. The sky starts to rain speckles of fire, they hit your eyes like tiny needles As your breathing slows, your vision fades, you cannot hear, you cannot breathe, you cannot see You are no longer you, now you are me"
21.01.2022 Do your job Do it to Your capacity Don't settle... Don't sell yourself short Give a fuck about things you don't have to If you have the 0 fucks things on your plate, eat them with the same satisfaction and intent as the cake you want to consume You have to do it, don't drag your feet because they will just get heavier and you will still have to do the work, only tired Do your Job, no matter what it is
20.01.2022 I am too busy I have kids I work late... I wish I had time like you Time is the biggest excuse that I hear used in commitment to change We have exactly the same amount of hours as every single other person Yes, we may be busy or get busy but we are still in charge of what we are filling our day with If you worked 12 hours you are still left with 12 You sleep 8, now you have 4 If you have intimate time with a partner you still have 3hrs and 55minutes.. okay that's a joke 3hrs, 57 minutes The point is, you have time for 10 minutes of sitting in silence, 30 minutes of walking and 20 minutes of weights You have this every day Why do I mention these three things? Because they are literally the three things (plus intimate time) that keeps me a functioning human They keep my health on track, they keep my hormones regulated, help me sleep and decrease how sad I feel Next time you tell yourself or your commitments you are time poor, think on it. Look at how much screen time you have had, how much gaming you have done or how much procrastination has occurred

19.01.2022 This may be a long one, bare with me The year that was I went into 2020 with the goal to grow my clinic capacity to be consistently over 80% capacity (oh, for those of you that don't know me I am a Acupuncturist, Remedial therapist and PT @b2u_trent )... That was about it I had other plans, goals and about 6 million different business ideas. But this was my focus As 2020 crept in we had the aftermath of the 2019 fires, Covid show its face and mental health problems increase I soon found myself in doing more work in the mental health and specifically men's health areas I spoke to my mentors and community and it appeared that 2020 was the year to open up, share my story and allow space for others to express theirs It was organic and effortless in execution I launched 1 of the 3 coaching programs I have developed, a mental health specific page (this one) and put in the foundation to keep building into the future So, I am done waffling. What is now and 2021 brining you from me Choose. Challenge. Change - 3 specifically catered men's personal and emotional development programs Relaunching "The Round Table" - a virtual men's group that sole job is to have an area to, in confidence allow men to express themselves, reach out and challenge each other Switch - the 1v1 men's coaching program Clinic 2.0 - another holistic space to offer Acupuncture, health and wellness support @balancetoyou evolution- @b2u_chris and I have been working harder than ever to provide a space for the people of the world that want to work on themselves, get stronger, have a community of support without having to feel like a gym bunny or bro Dive In season 2- with 1 episode left in its first season I am excited to start recording in February and launch season 2 the 2nd week of March There is a lot to do and I will be getting the right people to team up with to make sure it happens. Keep your eyes open and remember I am here to help If you need help with something please reach out

18.01.2022 Choose a moment, a day, a week and make sure you repeat it Choosing when to rest is different to being lazy or procrastinating It is looking after yourself, allowing a buffer for your health and ensuring you reward the hard work you do
18.01.2022 Learn to say it You are allowed to say it You don't have to agree to things... You can choose what you want to do
17.01.2022 I have always been my biggest enemy The higher I go, the harder I will attempt sabotage It isn't intentional, it is wanted but secretly it was/is a safety blanket... Do you self sabotage so you can't fail in your biggest effort, greatest risk or pursuits? The next video is about me and why I have done this and a little of what I have learnt

15.01.2022 Show gratitude for the good things in your day Something as simple as reflecting on the positives in a day can help elevate your mood and improve your happiness Dr. Robert A. Emmons of the University of California, Davis, and Dr. Michael E. McCullough of the University of Miami, have researched on the topic of gratitude... In one study, they asked all participants to write a few sentences each week, focusing on particular topics Group A wrote about things they were grateful for Group B wrote about daily irritations/things that had displeased them Group C wrote about events that had affected them After ten weeks, those who wrote about gratitude showed more optimism and reported feeling an improvement in mood Showing gratitude can be done differently and doesn't always need to be given person to person Here are some of the suggestions from Harvard Health Write a thank-you note Keep a gratitude journal Count your blessings Pray Meditate For a more detailed read checkout https://www.health.harvard.edu//giving-thanks-can-make-you
14.01.2022 Each week I send out 2 video's to people that have been or apart of my life I send these to people to see what they may miss, remind them of the amazing things they bring to the world and to encourage in areas I think they sell themselves short I now encourage you to try to do the same. If your not ready for a video, try text and if that is still too much an anonymous gesture... Remind people of how amazing they are, you never know the day they might be having

11.01.2022 Men's Bodyimage Too weak Too small... Too fat Too ugly Not enough I have said these things to myself and I know of other men that either hide it well or go to every length possible to escape their fear, their anxiety around their body Find acceptance around who you are and how you look and you will have a hell of a better time than pursuing someone else's appearance My list of self titled flaws or insecurities (physical) I have the stretchiest skin in the world my skin breaks out and gets dry I have a crooked nose Flattest butt in the world I am prone to holding my weight around my abdomen so love handles can be a thing I use to have a thorough hate for my freckles, someone taught me that they aren't that bad These were my image struggles, my biggest was not seeing myself as the fat kid, the unflattering chubby dude My message, as mixed as it may be is, we are who we are, you are going to have a better time flaunting the things you love, the rest is work and acceptance. We can't all be Brad Pitt but we can all be our own Brad Pitt
11.01.2022 Sharing our own journey, struggles and lessons is how we, as a civilisation has evolved Sharing the @anvil.td mission and story allowed me to offer value for veterans and civilians Grab the full podcast from the link in my bio

09.01.2022 It is Check-In Tuesday No video today. Just a post of me smiling. Today is one of those days where my mental health is bumpier than other days... I share this because I promised I would. I promised I wouldn't sugar coat what life I have or what I experience. I am okay, and I will be rocking a real smile soon. But I wanted to offer you the chance to check-in on a friend, family member, colleague or stranger. Use Tuesday as an excuse to check-in and see how someone is doing. You never know how many masks they are wearing or how many masks they have. If there is something I can help you with, please reach out. If what you need help with is out of my scope of practice there will be someone in my professional or friendship circle that can help you. Please reach out.

07.01.2022 Cultervate strengths and work on/with weaknesses If you do not offer in yourself or others incentive and reward attention is lost and in turn progression is reduced My favourite Dad application besides cuddles, wrestling and spoiling the girls is helping them to Cultervate and work on these areas... In turn, it reminds myself to do the same for me

04.01.2022 Turn up is more than just arriving. It is more than keeping a promise, commitment or schedule. It is you backing your choices and following through Be present in the outing, the family dinner, the date. It is worse than sitting alone than sitting with someone that hasn't arrived mentally to the occasion If you are having a rough time, use the moment to seek clarity or endulge yourself in a distraction from the thoughts. Be present in your arrival, mind and body... Your time is as equally important as another person's. This is first and foremost. If you drive a Lamborghini or catch the bus, the time you own is the same. If you book an appointment with anyone, your time is not more important than theirs. Turn up and keep your commitments If you are tired, be tired and do your task don't be tired and do nothing. Give yourself progress and a reason to reward your tired with rest If your jobs sucks, turn up and kick its ass until you get a new one Circumstances vary, conditions are not the same for all of us. But if we choose to be in charge of the things we can control, we will find ourselves leading towards our goals not falling away
04.01.2022 Mental health problems are real They impact more people than we can often see When suffering from mentalhealth it is hard to determine what is fact or fiction... Our mind plays tricks on us, and this can sometimes re-write our reality and taint our view This week one of my videos, I sent to myself I am sharing this with you so you can see the things that can cycle in my mind and when my shit gets heavy can resurface This is genuine, this is my mind, this isn't how I feel now or all the time but these are my struggles
01.01.2022 Check-in Tuesday How are you, are you okay, is there anything you need help with? If you do please reach out. If there is something you need help with that is out of my scope of practice there will be someone in my professional or friendship circle that can help you, please reach out
