25.01.2022 ! We’ll be running a series of posts introducing our amazing brigade members so you can put a face to the name ...and better get to know who is protecting our community. Give them a or a when you see them out and about next. Do you know ? He is one of our firefighters (though also Brigade Treasurer) but also has endorsement in CFA and Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) to perform other roles as required and this has seen him deployed to fires in other areas of Victoria as well as interstate. Peter has lived in Kangaroo Ground for over 25 years and loves living here. He believes the strength (and possibly, the weaknesses) of the area is that it is a small and tight community where people are motivated to help. This is what Peter said when we asked him why he joined the CFA . , . Peter is Married with three daughters and five granddaughters. He enjoys SCUBA diving and has been an international judge in Canoe Slalom for many years now (including judging at the Rio Olympics) a sport that he became involved in when his youngest daughter took up the sport and he was silly enough to ‘volunteer’ to help. Peter tells anyone who is looking to get involved in their local CFA brigade that it is a great way to meet a broader cross-section of the local community and to develop new skills. Many of the skills that CFA volunteers can acquire are useful in life in general and he knows a number of volunteers in the Brigade that have gone on to make this a career. There is a lot of personal satisfaction to be gained and this can be not only in terms of operational firefighting but also in the many non-operational roles that exist from supporting the development of community resilience, in post incident recovery, and in the general support of the Brigade operations. Join us in saying g'day to Peter!

17.01.2022 FIRE CALL | 9 OCTOBER 2020 | STRUCTURE FIRE This afternoon, Hoppers Crossing Fire Brigade and Truganina Fire Brigade were called to a 2nd Alarm in Tarneit to ...support Fire Rescue Victoria following multiple Triple Zero (000) calls reporting smoke issuing from the roof of a house just before 3:45 PM. Crews arrived on scene at Serengeti Circuit to find a two story brick house involved in the blaze. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus attacked the fire and contained it to the second floor and roof area of the building. Crews conducted a search of the house, but found no one was home at the time of the fire. The incident was declared under control at around 4:30 PM. The cause of the fire is not yet known, but FRV's specialist fire investigators will attend the scene. Thanks to Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police for their assistance. #WeWorkAsOne #FRVFires #CFAFires #firefighters #tarneit
