25.01.2022 Oh... double wow! :-)

24.01.2022 awwww... :-) Thank you Normie!

22.01.2022 Charlie's memories - pure magic! Thanks for sharing Charlie Brown :-) http://docdro.id/sbfYvlA And on a more serious note. If you have booked for the dinner you MUST pay in advance, and you MUST pay now. The venue is being completely unreasonable and wants money in advance to drag out the goods :-) Please pay immediately if you have not already. Thank you. PS ONE WEEK TO GO!!!

22.01.2022 What an amazing weekend! Well worth every minute, so THANK YOU to all of you for taking the time and making the time to be a part of the inaugural Daily Mercury Reunion. And yes, we've got OODLES of photos, so we'll start with some from the Friday Night Meet & Greet right now. And this is just the start!

21.01.2022 Sideburns ... no, really, nice sideburns.. :-)

21.01.2022 OMG two days to go! Everyone is getting very excited! :-) For those of you who have lost the email here are the details you NEED to know. Friday night: Meet & Greet, Harrup Park, Room 9. Dress code: Whatever. It's $20 at the door if you have not pre-paid. All welcome! Starts from 5pm goes till you've had enough or until venue staff kick you out (around midnight-ish). Nibbles are provided in your ticket price, as is one standard drink. There is a restaurant at the venue if yo...u wish to duck out for an hour or so and eat. Saturday night: Dinner is at Mackay Golf Club. Dress code: Smart casual. This is pre-paid, but if you think you'll change your mind you need to contact me, right now. This function starts at 6pm and you will be ticked off as paid at the door. Not pre-paid on the night - I'm sorry we can't accommodate you. Memorabilia and awesome slide show by Peter Holt on this night! Sunday: Rock up at 9am for a cuppa or bacon and eggs at Bridges on the river and just pay your own way. As this is not pre-paid and we have no idea how many will show, the venue has graciously said they'll assist if we need extra seating. We have 27 expressed their interest so we'll play it by ear. This is our farewell until next time. We can't wait to see you all! And PS. Don't forget to bring along your memorabilia, photo albums, old newspaper clippings, work shirts - ANYTHING on Saturday night... Fun news: We'll be creating our own memorabilia on both nights :-) Any questions? Good. See you all there!!! See more

18.01.2022 Finally we have an update on the revised reunion plans! Everyone who has registered to attend should by now have received an email with all of the details, and more importantly, the specific details for payment. We are now very close to the event and immediate payment is required in order to secure our new plans. The good news is the Reunion lives! Friday night is open to everyone as is the breakfast (Friday is pay at the door AFTER we get the minimum 50 pre-paid). The dinner is pre-booked and pre-paid no exceptions! Thank you, and can't wait to see you all and with over 70 booked for Saturday night it's going to be a beauty! PS If you have registered and have not received an email, give me a call on 0427 178 370.

18.01.2022 Normie - thank you for sharing these amazing memories! :-)

17.01.2022 A well deserved retirement :-) Let's celebrate!!

15.01.2022 Boy, how times have changed... Thank you Steve Dew for getting us all warmed up (and fuzzy?) for the reunion :-)

13.01.2022 Meet Enid Schmitdke. Enid spent two years writing a couple of columns for the Daily Mercury - one was titled Penny Says for the social pages aimed at ladies about good purchases with stores such as Marsh and Webster, Ian Wood Travel Service, Fields, Lamberts and Kerricks Toy Shop. The second column was titled Shop Detective, a hardware column including stores like Mitre 10 and Porters. Clary Manning was manager at the time, and Bruce Manning was business manager. Enid says th...e Daily Mercury was printed at Mackay at this time and she remembers the noise of the printers running constantly, and also recalls the move to Wellington Street. Enid wrote her columns at home on a typewriter, delivering them to the Daily Mercury two days before printing. Enid says she was lucky to be able work flexible hours doing her research in all kinds of weather, and she 'thoroughly enjoyed' this time at the Daily Mercury writing her columns. You can meet Enid at the Daily Mercury Reunion on Saturday night! See more
