15.01.2022 Remember this Back? Back in the day...Arnotts Milk Arrowroot biscuits. We gave them to babies cos they melt in the mouth, we gave them to kids with lots of butter...the clever cooks use them for all kinds of cheesecakes and bases. Made by Arnotts in Australia since 1888. Did you know arrowroot is a tropical plant, similar to taro and cassava. I like my bickies with soft butter, golden syrup and a strong cuppa. How about you? Reminiscent of the string bikinis from the 60s and 70s...but these are soooo much softer. Thanks Megan. We have a new selection of Anne's pretty bags in too. 05.01.2022 Streets Ice Cream company is celebrating their 100th Birthday with a special old favourite, jazzed up for the occasion. Golden Gaytime, a classic golden oldie, now comes in a Birthday suit...Vanilla cake flavoured icecream with the first ever multi colour crumble. Is there anything better than cake and icecream? But did you know that back in 1920, Edwin ( Ted) Street, with the help of his wife and brother, laid the foundations for what would ultimately become Australia's big...gest and best known ice cream manufacturer. Streets ice cream was originally made in the back shed by Ted, at his home in Corrimal NSW. He sold his ice creams to neighbours along with sweets, cakes and lemonade. Word spread, and soon Ted used a cart, then a one horsepower motorbike to sell Streets ice cream. Today, Streets ice cream is sold throughout Australia and New Zealand. The Golden Gaytime has been a best seller since way back when. Coincidentally, yours truly, me, was also raised in Corrimal, NSW, just a couple of blocks from 'old Mr Streets' place. 04.01.2022 Come and self drive on sealed roads all the way from Cairns to Port Douglas, to Mossman, to the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation. Then hit the dirt in your 4WD on the famous Bloomfield Track. Its not the most difficult 4WD track in Queensland but is pretty challenging in sections and definitely the most scenic. Book a night at Daintree Rainforest Village camp ground before you head up the Bloomfield.

03.01.2022 If you are heading north to the #daintreerainforest on the 27th September...please delay your departure from Cairns until 3.30 pm...because #thegreatbarrierreefdrive is closed for the ironman cycling event. Don't worry, you still have a few hours of beautiful daylight driving pleasure on your way to the world's oldest living rainforest .

01.01.2022 Cheyne is our local butcher and we have had loads of positive feedback about his products. He is sourcing beef, poultry and pork from local farms on the Atherton tablelands. Have you tried his butterflied, marinated whole chickens? No bones...throw it on the BBQ...too easy.
