25.01.2022 A picture perfect day in beautiful Port Douglas

25.01.2022 It’s hot up here, time to take a break on the cool forest floor. This week in the Daintree

25.01.2022 A very active morning at Daintree "Backyard" Safaris. The Buff-breasted Paradise Kingfishers were EVERYWHERE. Adults and young are constantly shooting in and out of the forest, making the most out of their last days in Tropical North Queensland. The adults leave first and the young head off a little while after, amazingly, finding their way to New Guinea with no one to guide them. Here is a youngster getting it's colouring up beautifully.

23.01.2022 How about this beauty! We have been pretty lucky lately and we've come across quite a few Cassowaries. Here is today's gorgeous big bird.

20.01.2022 Can you see two? More baby Cassowaries may well be on the way. This week in the Daintree.

20.01.2022 On beautiful days like today, we like to move our office out on to the veranda at Daintree Safaris HQ to work. Not going to lie, it's been a challenge to concentrate this morning with all this going on in the background. We have two flawless male Ulysses butterflies having a fabulously colourful "turf war" in the Ixora bush, a hearty looking Major Skink scuttling through the lawn on secret skink business and a magnificent Buff-breasted Paradise Kingfisher singing it's gorgeous head off while bug hunting in the background. It's a perfect time to holiday here, that's for sure. .

19.01.2022 Looking like a crazy firework. How stunning is this Golden Penda? It's native tree in our part of the world and a big favourite with the little birds.

17.01.2022 Some excitement from today's Daintree "Backyard" Safari. This handsome man has been a bit quiet lately but he's making up for it this morning. With two delightful ladies to impress, he's pulling out his best dance moves and wowing us all. This is the Victoria's Rifle bird, famous for his flamboyant courtship display, check him out, he's FABULOUS.

10.01.2022 Something bright and beautiful to add some colour to your Sunday. Look who is outside the office window at Daintree Safaris HQ right now. The wonderful Buff-breasted Paradise Kingfishers are at the end of the breeding season and things are getting busy. Young birds are jetting through the forest and learning the ropes. Parents are standing guard and keeping a watchful eye on the little ones. Soon they will all head over to New Guinea to chill out for the winter. Aren't they beautiful?
