25.01.2022 Yum! Today we worked as a group to add strawberries, grapes, banana and raspberries to make a nice cool juice before morning tea! We loved watching it all blend together and pouring it into our own cups. Thanks for the beautiful fruit Matts Coolum Farm Fresh!

23.01.2022 Today we mixed, rolled and created some mini bath bombs! We loved adding these to our water play for a new, fun experience for our senses.

20.01.2022 THIS is why Family Daycare is so special. Four children, all different ages, different interests, different personalities. One started with a ring completely of her own accord and said to another ‘here, this is because we’re best friends.’ That child then went to the next child with another ring and said ‘best friends’, and continued onto the last with ‘because best friends’. I’ve been running a Family Daycare for almost 5 years and the relationships created and developed are absolutely heartwarming year after year.

18.01.2022 Daisies and Dinosaurs Family Daycare have some very rare positions opening up in the next few weeks in Coolum Beach! Please give Anne-Marie a call on 0413419806 or send a message for an information booklet. Looking forward to some new friends in our little daycare family!

17.01.2022 You may notice at Daisies and Dinosaurs, we don’t send tonnes of plastic and paper based crafts home like a lot of Childcares do. When we craft, we more often than not use natural bases such as paperbark, recycled timber with paint and chalk that we can wash off and reuse, large flat leaves, tree discs. We will often add watercolour paints, homemade glue, recycled items such as boxes and wrapping paper, different shapes and textures for stamping such as sea sponges and flower...s, and loose pieces from nature or recycled materials. Many times our craft doesn’t result in an educator lead picture perfect ‘finished product’ or even a product able to take home, and although we will still sometimes use paper to send home, poster paints and certain activities if programmed, we find the most enjoyment comes from exploration, open ended craft, opening our minds to opportunities the world has to offer and using all our senses in our crafts. 16.01.2022 A handful of happiness Daisies and Dinosaurs little people have put so much love and energy into these strawberries. From using their knowledge, motor skills and appreciation of the environment they planted them using teamwork - learnt about the growing process through various activities - watered them every single day - counted them - recorded them using photos each day to watch them change from green to red - noticed some lady beetles so covered them to keep them safe a...nd also transplanted some marigolds next to them to keep other bugs away - and brought us the biggest smiles when we checked them this week and they were all red! They have been a BIG process but a very rewarding one to finally have a handful of strawberries to enjoy for a picnic! So much excitement, achievement and learning comes from something so simple in nature. Amazing work

15.01.2022 Every day is a new adventure!

14.01.2022 This morning we loved reading the story Wombat Divine, which generated a huge interest in Australian animals and continued onto learning the Aboriginal symbols for them! We love creating our own resources at Daisies and Dinosaurs to offer instant continuations on our interests and to fully explore the process. As a group of 4 we discussed Australian animals after our story, we found some animals to print while discussing their names, how they looked and where they lived, and worked together to laminate them while our bigger kids helped cut them into a puzzle. We also connected the symbols to the pictures as we printed them and now have a permanent activity to explore them more this afternoon!

10.01.2022 m i n d f u l n e s s A couple of times a day we practise mindfulness. Whoever wishes to participate (usually all of us!) sit down as a group. We hold our scented flower, close our eyes, breathe in and out. We use our senses to listen to what’s around us, feel the wind, cold or heat. We smell our flower and breathe in and out once more. Why do we practise mindfulness? It only takes about a minute, but it’s a great tool for both children and adults to come into the present moment. Sometimes we get so busy, use our brains so much and have so many emotions that it helps us to slow and reset, be in the moment, create calmness and steady our bodies.

02.01.2022 As we were changing around resources this weekend, we found our mood ball! We haven't had this out in quite a long time so were so excited to use it today We loved using it to connect colours to feelings, and to relax. We used it both in groups and in solitude. We loved discussing what colour makes us most happy, angry and calm, and what each colour reminded us of.
