25.01.2022 How do you visualise 1.5m? Today were using 4 magpies as our measure . When it comes to social distancing it doesn't matter what you visualise, what matters most is that you're keeping a safe 1.5m distance from others.

25.01.2022 Today, the World Health Organisation (WHO) reported a record one-day increase of 307,930 in global COVID-19 cases - but in Queensland, we recorded 0 new cases. ...Not a single one of today's global cases came from our state. Queensland this is something you should be so proud of Together, we are doing a great job at keeping case numbers low and each other safe . We only need to look overseas to see what another reality might be. There are things we have had to sacrifice, and it hasn't been easy. But together, we are making a big difference. Thank you, Queensland.

22.01.2022 How do you visualise 1.5m? Today were using 2 koalas as our measure. If you want to spend some koala-ity time with friends, just remember to keep a safe 1.5m distance.

21.01.2022 We would like to thank our wonderful Daisy Hill P&C Association for hiring a waterside for the students end of year breakup. The students also enjoyed slices of yummy pizza. Prep B and Prep P were first up on the slide. We'll let you judge their level of enjoyment.

20.01.2022 The Year 6 Graduating class of 2020 really enjoyed their celebration dinner last night at Fitzys. Thank you Lloyd Finn for these wonderful photos.

20.01.2022 Attendance at school It is very important for students to be on time at school. Our day starts with roll call at 8.50am and lessons begin at 9.00am. Students who arrive after 9am are missing important lessons and concepts and they may find it difficult to settle into the daily routine. It is also important for students to not be at school before 8.15am. This is the time that active supervision begins in the school grounds. Staff are on campus but busy preparing for the da...y. Students who need to be at school before 8.15am should be enrolled in before school care. This is similar to the afternoons. There is no active supervision in the playground after 3.15pm. Students who are still at school after this time will be sent to the office. If it is not possible for families to collect students before 3.15pm, they should be enrolled in after school care. Staff are happy to assist families on occasion but arrangements need to be made if students cannot be picked up on time on a regular basis.

18.01.2022 Today was the Year 6 students final day of Primary School! This morning, with go cards in our hands we set off with Mr Nabbs to catch the public bus to the Hyperdome. Many students had never done this before and so it was a great experience, learning to tap their cards on and off the bus. Once we arrived, all the students used their own cash to pay for a game of laser tag. It was very competitive, with Mr Nabbs quickly out in front but eventually overtaken by one of the boys.... In the photo you can see the first, second and third highest scorers. Everyone was thirsty after that so under our supervision they went to order and purchase their own food and returned to us to sit and eat as a group. For many students this was their first time ordering and paying for their own food. They were quite pleased with themselves and there was discussion about how the ordering experience went for them. Some then went to the arcade with Mr Nabbs and then we all caught the bus back to school. An enjoyable and educational experience for all. There were tears by some students at the end of the day, I was a bit emotional too and will miss them. Mrs Dyer

17.01.2022 8 September was declared international literacy day by UNESCO on 26 October 1966. It was celebrated for the first time in 1967. Its aim is to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies. Celebrations take place in several countries. Some 775 million adults lack minimum literacy skills; one in five adults are still not literate and two-thirds of them are women. 60.7 million children are out-of-school and many more attend irregularly or drop out. There are various companies and charity organisations that support the fight against illiteracy. Some supporters of International Literacy Day include the Global Development Research Centre, Montblanc, the National Institute for Literacy, and Rotary International.

12.01.2022 Tonight our Year 6 class graduates. Congratulations year 6 on officially graduating from your primary school years. We have felt privileged to share your years of primary school with you. Here are 4 ways to help you enter the 'rest of your lives'. 1. Passion. Do what interests you. Find what you love to do and pour yourself into it. You'll be at your best, when you are happy. 2. Enthusiasm and Desire. When you're spending time at work or at play, enthusiastically learn y...our craft. 3. When someone comes to you, say, "How can I help YOU? "What can I do for YOU? "What do YOU need?" That care for others will come back to you in ways you never anticipated. 4. You must continue to evolve in your thinking and in your views on life. You must continue to learn .Surround yourself with bright, positive people. Be open. Be inquisitive. There's a saying, "If you're the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room". That's all 4. You might not remember one single thing. But, savour this moment. When tonight is over, Thank those that have helped you get to here. Enjoy your next challenge and embrace it with commitment and passion. Good Luck. See more
