22.01.2022 Just a friendly reminder to not drink from your hot water supply. We removed about 50 litres of this sludge from a change over we did today. To prolong the life of your hot water units there are a few things you can do. 1. Make sure to test and open your pressure relief valves every few months.... 2. If you have an electric system, have the Anode changed every 5 years or so. The anode works by sacrificing itself so that the steel tank does not rust. Most systems that have a 10 or 12 year warranty also require this to be done so as to maintain that warranty. 3. If you hear any noises during your heating cycle it may indicate that your system has a build up of sludge, and this will reduce the life span and amount of hot water you have available. It may also indicate other issues that require attention such as element function. We found that the old pipe work had corroded and in some cases was not even connected, causing grey water to pool.
