23.01.2022 [JIGSAW DANCE] About ME Let me tell you a little story about me... I started dancing when I only a little girl, 3 years old and a budding ballerina at heart. I was obsessed with pink, kid high heels and dressing up as a princess. I couldnt wait to twirl up on the stage in a beautiful tutu like the big ballerinas. So what did I do? I nagged mum to start me in dance lessons (sound familiar?! I thought so! )... I was only 4 or 5 years old when I was entered into my first Ballet exam and I adored being the star in our concert performance. I still remember the first dance I ever did - we started skipping onstage in different coloured flower tutus (mine was yellow) dancing to the all time classic "raindrops keep falling on my head" Then I got the results of my exam - I passed! But here comes the first hurdle...... My mum was convinced that the next level of dancing was the progression to pointe shoes (yeah right mum, at the tender age of 6!!!) Now, I was born with a genetic condition that affects the bone structure in my feet. Essentially it stops me getting onto a full rise, alters my balance and weakens the structural support in my toes. (a perk is that it gives me a killer arch which is amazing when doing tendues!) I was told that if I ever went on pointe, I would collapse as my feet would not be able to support me. So I stopped dancing for a few years. I missed it and wanted to start back, so I did but this time in some other styles as well as Ballet. By 10, I was determined to run my own dance studio and started creating business plans, timetables and enrolment forms (I was an ambitious kid!) Well of course, I had people say "you wont be able to do that... Whats your back up plan? How are you going to afford that?" So stubborn me became DETERMINED to do this as well as to go en pointe. I made it my personal mission to empower children to dream and believe that they can achieve it. I worked my way up; training on pointe and competing in eisteddfods. I started assisting dance classes and then taking on my own. I became qualified, started this studio and continue to grow everyday. I am living the dream
22.01.2022 Hello everyone! We have a few new followers to the page, so I thought I would take this time to introduce myself and give you some fun facts that you might not know about! Outside of dancing, I LOVE working on mindset and being the best version of yourself. Late last year, I found a new spark of joy in my life and decided it was time to enrol into a Diploma of Counselling with a Major in Child Development, Mindfulness and Expressive Therapy. I am absolutely LOVING it a...nd cant wait to bring some of these learnings into my teaching practice! I also have a secret lil passion when it comes to photography and graphic design. I dont know what it is, but being able to express yourself creatively is a pretty cool thing! Id love to explore this interest a little more in the future and hone in on those skills! Lastly, spending time out in the sun with my puparoos, fills me with so much joy. Im a Capricorn, so being an Earth sign, I feel so grounded and at peace being out on the grass, walking on the beach and just chilling in the sunshine (however having Dutch genes, I cant spend tooooo long out in the sunshine, otherwise I will become a lobster ) What are some fun things I might not know about you, just by looking at your insta? Let me know - I wanna get to know YOU! #jigsawdance #talkswithtash #dancinginhornsby

21.01.2022 Hello - welcome to our page! Im Miss Tash and I am the leading lady here at Jigsaw Dance Hornsby & Wahroonga. I thought I would do something a little different and give you a little sneak peak into my life I am very close with my mama bear and am very grateful for her support in everything. If youve been with us for a while, you might recognise her from the front desk at the concert and sometimes at the studio (she tries to sneak her way out of that one if she can...!) Dance was never a passion of hers, but I am super lucky that she took time out of her day to drive me to dancing and teaching when I was younger This is going to sound weird, but when people ask me what my hobbies are aside from dancing, my answer is actually creative thinking within the business. I am one of those crazy people that actually loves building out systems, creating all the artworks and planning out the big picture vision... Its more just a matter of time and not having enough hours in the day! However, if I am in need of a break from work, I adore spending time with my partner and friends; going to a park, watching a movie or simply relaxing around food. I am also a lover of shopping and a little bit of self care pampering time in the form of a massage, energetic reading, a good book or meditation. What are some fun things I might not know about you, just by looking at your insta? Let me know - I wanna get to know YOU! #jigsawdance #talkswithtash #dancinginhornsby

18.01.2022 Why hello there, lovely people! Miss Tash here and I thought I would take a sec to re-introduce myself to the newbies on the page. Welcome! Little fun fact for you all... I am a half dutchie and absolutely adore The Netherlands (in fact, I would go so far to say, it is my favourite place on Earth ) If you ever have the chance to go there, be sure to try their stroopwafels and frikandel speciaal as they are sooo yummy!... Aside from dancing, my next favourite sport would have to be skiing! There is nothing more freeing then gliding down a snowy mountain as fast as you can Being European, I often visited family when I was young and so I was lucky to master the slopes in Austria, as a wee little tot (I still have horrid memories of my Opa making me climb up hills in my skiis!) By now you must be wondering whether I can speak Dutch?! And the answer is.... No! Unfortunately for me, Dad never taught me so I have had to rely on picking it up from my aunties and uncles. I used to think I could understand it if I heard it, but on my recent trips, I realised that I absolutely can NOT What are some fun things I might not know about you, just by looking at your insta? 18.01.2022 Lifelong Skills Developed from Dancing So your child has told you they want to start dance classes and to yourself, you may think, great, I dont want to pay for lessons where they are going to fly like a fairy and leap through rainbows But what they (and maybe you) dont realise is there is sooo much more to the dance class than just the surface level steps. When they come to dance class they are learning a whole range of skills that will stay with them for a lifetime. ...Read on to find out what they are: https://www.danceclasseshornsby.com.au/lifelong-skills-dev/ #ontheblog #danceclasseshornsby #jigsawdance
18.01.2022 This week, we thought we would share some of our most frequently asked questions and their answers, so new students can feel at ease with coming along to the studio for the first time. Question: Do I need to buy a dance uniform or shoes before I enrol? Answer: No dancers trying classes for the first time are encouraged to come in comfy clothes and sneakers. Once they are sure they want to continue, we will be able to sort out uniform and accessories in class with you or at ...our Open Day in January, where all uniform will be discounted. We have packages available to make it more affordable for you. We are excited to be back in the studio for Term 3. Please get in touch if you are interested in getting started as spaces are limited! 17.01.2022 This week we wanted to share with you the reasons why our families love Jigsaw Dance and what makes us different. Reason 4 - Relaxed concerts Our concerts are run in such a relaxed way, so as to allow the kids to truly enjoy the experience of performing on stage. We are there encouraging the kids every step of the way and also regularly communicate with the audience so you know what is happening too. There is no need for concerts to be stressful with loads of pressure placed ...on both the dancers and parents... That is why we keep them fun and exciting! "Thank you so much for the concert and all the hard work you put in this year. My daughter had a wonderful time! It was amazing to see how much she has improved from a year ago! - Maddy: mum at Jigsaw "You put in so much effort, into every detail and element of the day and it was amazing to see it all come together. You clearly have a true gift and passion for what you do." Though times are a bit different right now, with the Covid-19 pandemic, we are still committed to providing an exceptional experience in every class. In times like these, children need to stay HAPPY, ACTIVE and keep some NORMALITY in their daily life, so what better way than to join our fun and energetic dance classes. Get in touch today and wed be happy to send through some more information and get you started with your free trial. 0468994488 or email Tash on [email protected] #jigsawdance #danceclasseshornsby #7reasonswhy http://www.danceclasseshornsby.com.au/
16.01.2022 Why celebrating achievements is important to us Have you ever had a time where you put a lot of effort into something, were super proud of yourself for conquering a challenge and then got no praise for it whatsoever? How did it make you feel? Now thinking on the other hand, have you had a time where someone noticed the little things you did, or noticed that you had improved in a skill or took the time to compliment your achievement? How did THAT make you feel? Amazing right?!... And I think I am right to guess that it gave you a sense of fulfilment and made you more motivated to progress even more. This is the power of celebrating achievements. Read on to find out how we celebrate achievements at Jigsaw Dance: https://www.danceclasseshornsby.com.au/why-celebrating-ach/ #jigsawdance #ontheblog #hornsbydanceclass

14.01.2022 [JIGSAW DANCE] About ME The core of what we do at Jigsaw is to build each childs confidence not just so they can perform in front of others, but so they can truly feel comfortable in their own skin and embrace what they have to offer in life. This starts from using positive dialogue in class and encouraging our students to do the same. Whenever we hear students doubting their ability, using words like "I cant" or "I will never be good enough to do that," we are quick to red...irect this and ask them how they can rephrase it in a positive light (this is even with our tiniest dancers as this is where their inner voice and confidence starts to shape) We will always encourage our dancers to believe in their ability and will use different tools such as writing in their dance diary, performing to eachother and coming up with their own combinations, to help them build confidence and allow them to feel ready to perform on stage. What it often comes down to though, is us working with each individual child and personalising their experience to suit their needs and personality type. Each child is at a different stage in their journey and require a different teaching style to allow them to reach their full potential. We are excited to be back in the studio for Term 3. Please get in touch if you are interested in getting started as spaces are limited! Email [email protected] for more info http://www.danceclasseshornsby.com.au/

04.01.2022 Why we LOVE dance! Dance is something that fills us with so much love, purpose, passion, happiness & energy and we absolutely wouldnt have it any other way. There are so many reasons why we simply love dance, so read on to find out what they are: https://www.danceclasseshornsby.com.au/why-we-love-dance/ #ontheblog #jigsawdance #northshoredance
04.01.2022 [Jigsaw Dance] About ME When we teach, we are inclusive of EVERY single dancer. For us that means that every child is recognised and praised for things they have achieved. Every child gets a turn in the front row as they deserve to shine as much as anyone else. Every child is treated equally and fairly, regardless of their ability, regardless of whether they are wearing the right uniform, regardless of whether they turn up to class late. So often we see children get put down ...or humiliated for things that are out of their control. We see little things such as a hair not being in a bun, causing children to be kicked out of classes. We see children who may not be coordinated or the most technical dancer, being shoved to the back of the class EVERY SINGLE TIME! We see favourites being placed front and centre, almost so often, it becomes predictable. We see children whos parents havent paid being forced to leave the studio. But let me ask you this. What if the reason that child didnt have the correct hair or uniform, is because they just got evicted from their house? What if that child that isnt the best dancer in the room, practices every single night and tries her absolute best just so she can get recognised in one area of her life? What if the favourite in the class, actually doesnt put in as much effort and bullies other children at school, just so they can feel good about themselves? What if the reason the fees havent been paid is because its a single mum juggling 2 jobs just to make ends meet? Should these children be turned away, when really dance is their safe and happy place? I really dont think so. If I can be a person that children feel safe and comfortable turning to and if I can provide a happy place that everyone feels welcome in.... Well then, I think Ive done my part in this world. Every journey at Jigsaw starts with inclusiveness and extends through to every lesson they take. Being kind and generous people is just the way we run business - I dont know another way then to just be kind. We are excited to be back in the studio for Term 3. Please get in touch if you are interested in getting started as spaces are limited! Email [email protected] for more info http://www.danceclasseshornsby.com.au/
