25.01.2022 Excited to have sent our first 60 degree solutions power point cover and tap cover to Western Australia yesterday. www.60degreesolutions.com.au

25.01.2022 If you are looking for a solution for how to overcome an outdoor power point or garden tap close to your pool fence you need to keep an eye on our website as we are developing a product to suit. We will have 60 degree solutions to suit

24.01.2022 We have now helped over 600 people register their pool. A number of councils have sent information through to the Pool Safety Council, however this does not seem to be the case with Moreton Bay. If you are in that area make sure you register by 04 May 2011 or fines apply. If you go to our website we will do it for you.

24.01.2022 The rules have changed to make it easier if you need to do something to your fence. It used to be that you needed a building application for work over 5 metres or 6 posts or in excess of $3,300. Now it is ok without one if you have had a nonconformity notice issued. Some restrictions apply but it will make it easier and cheaper for most people.

24.01.2022 Choose who you use to do repairs carefully as some maintenance tradespeople seem to be charging extremely high prices at the moment.

21.01.2022 We often get clients that don't understand when we pull up climbable objects near pools or gaps exceeding 100mm. Often they will say there is no way a child would get through that or climb that.

20.01.2022 Watch when you are buying Resuscitation signs as they must include infants and there are still ones out there for sale without this information on it.

20.01.2022 Many buyers still seem to be unaware that they must obtain a Pool Safety Certificate within 90 days of purchase or can be fined up to $16,400

18.01.2022 Cannot believe that this article is about pool safety and a Royal Life Saving Regional Manager is standing watching a four year old child stand on a chair and open the gate! Just like putting their name on resuscitation signs without specific instructions for infants and children. What exactly are they trying to promote?

18.01.2022 The joys of the job!!!

16.01.2022 Pool Safety Certificate government charge has increased from $31 to $32.10 as of 06 July 2012

14.01.2022 Last week we did an inspection for a property that had a pool safety certificate issued 2 years ago that was very non-compliant and we are very sure that the height of the barrier has not changed. The rules are the rules and inspectors should follow them.

13.01.2022 Pool Safety Register now extended until 04 November 2011. Register online at www.thebigtick.com.au. We now have bookings in place for every month in 2014 & 2105. If you are looking at leaving your Pool Safety Certificate until then we reommend that you book now and take advantage of today's rates as bookings are limited

12.01.2022 Pool Safety Register has now been delayed until 04 November 2011. Many pools are still not registered and many people still do not realise they need to register. Do it online at www.thebigtick.com.au

12.01.2022 Scary to think that 87% of backyard pool drownings happen in rental properties. Yet only 16% of rental properties pass their pool safety inspection first time (compared to 56% of home owners). And recently, of over 400 rentals available that we checked only 38.5% had pool safety certificates in place at the time of advertising they were available for tenants to go into.

10.01.2022 Our new website is coming soon and it looks great!

10.01.2022 Reminder for all short term accommodation properties - Pool Safety Certificate required by 31 May 2011 or fines up to $82,500 apply. Book today at www.thebigtick.com.au

09.01.2022 Our advice is don't wait until 2015 to make your pool compliant to today's standards. Below is the reason why. Currently there are 322,313 pools registered on Queenslands pool safety register. There are 778 licenced pool safety inspectors and 68,751 pool safety certificates have been issued. These statistics are taken directly from the pool safety councils website as of this week. In other words only 21% of pools have had certificates issued to date (the percentage may be ...lower than this as we are unsure if they count certificate renewals in this figure). This would indicate to us that the majority of pool owners that do not need to have their pool up to todays standards until 30 November 2015 are waiting until 2015 to do so. Therefore there is likely to be approximately 250,000 pool owners that will be needing inspections done and, quite likely in many cases, rectification work. It is our belief, as with many things, that supply and demand will have a huge impact on pricing that year and anticipate that the cost of an inspection will be at its peak for this reason. To put it into perspective, we have already have 519 certificate renewals diarised for 2015 just for our key clients. (This alone equates close to 5 months worth of inspections for one person.)

08.01.2022 It would not surprise us if next time you go to use the inspector that did your last inspection that they are no longer involved in the industry. Why? Because this is what we have noticed on the pool safety council website. In April there were 901 inspectors showing In April the highest licence number found 101401 Since April 20 have been added (highest licence number now 101421) But now there are only 884 inspectors showing... This possibly means 537 inspectors have left the industry!!!! Don't worry though we are still here and available!

08.01.2022 Only 4 days to register your pool or spa. Penalties of up to $2,000 apply for non-compliance.

07.01.2022 Went to a B&B yesterday for breakfast. The pool barrier had at least 5 major faults such as gate hooked open, windows opening without being screened, climbable horizontals etc. Spoke to owner to ensure he knew that he needed a Pool Safety Certificate by 31 May 2011 or fines for corporations up to $82,500. He had no idea and don't think he believed me. Hope for his sake he checks it out!!!!!

07.01.2022 60 degree solution products now available. Easy solutions for tricky problems like climbable power points and taps. Check it out at www.60degreesolutions.com.au

06.01.2022 60 degree solutions medium cover suitable for power points exceeding 60mm in depth. www.thebigtick.com.au

06.01.2022 All in a day's work. Make a pool compliant then stop to save people from sinking car. Fantastic effort from our team. Well done John & Lucas Smith

04.01.2022 We are disgusted that we have come across resuscitation signs that do not mention children or infants. After all aren't the pool safety regulations in place to reduce the number of backyard drownings in those two categories????

03.01.2022 I had the opportunity yesterday to speak to a wonderful lady that tragically lost her child due to drowning in their pool. About an hour later I spoke to a gentleman checking on the pool safety legislation and what he needed to do to make his non-compliant pool compliant. He believed the regulations were just a lot of political overkill. Maybe he should have spoken to the lady that had lost her child - his opinion hopefully would have changed!

03.01.2022 Some Pool Safety Inspectors advertise that 95% of pools fail first time. Our PASS rate is currently 56% for pool owners on the first inspection. Why? Pre-inspection checklist and the help we provide on the phone before we go.

02.01.2022 Power point safety covers are also good for gas fittings and junction boxes.

01.01.2022 We now also offer handyman services.
