25.01.2022 Lewis Major Projects is seeking professional dancers for contracts and projects in 2021 and beyond. All details below.

23.01.2022 2020 YOUNG ARTIST PROGRAM PROFILE Chloe Moir graduated from the University of South Australia in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts (Performing Arts) and completed a Cert. 4 in Dance at the Adelaide College of the Arts. She performed in the 2020 ADT Bushfire Fundraiser, the 2019 WOMADelaide and the 2017 Adelaide Cabaret Festival. In addition, Chloe choreographed and performed in On The Record: Song of the Departed for the 2017 Cabaret Festival and How Children Became Monkeys... for the 2017 OzAsia Festival as well as choreographing for The Lucky 7 Music video Cryin' Why do you want to participate in 2020 YAP? I wish to further develop my choreographic practice and feel that learning first-hand is the best way to do this. I find myself sometimes trapped in the first stages of choreographing and want to understand better methods of getting over that initial starting hurdle to be able to proceed with the rest of the work. What do you want to explore? Rewind: We are always looking forward in dance but what if we took the time to rewind and think about what we just did. Thinking about the idea of time in relation to our movements through time and space and how we are all moving through life in our own vision and interpretation of what we do with it. I want to take the time to analyse movement I have created and see what happens to the same movement when it is reversed. Does it follow a new tempo, poses a new quality and does it then convey a new meaning? 17.01.2022 "Yesterday’s Skeleton" (2020, Australia, HDV) Duration: 60 minutes Created by and featuring Dianne Reid Producer: Hipsync ... This biopic of independent dance and video artist Dianne Reid is a physical etching on dance as a life practice and life as a dance/screen practice. Through an interrogation of her current practice and a historical unpacking of her dance trajectory, Reid brings issues of the body, sustain/ability, independence and community cooperation to the surface. Dianne says, "Dance alchemises the anatomy, builds bridges, crafts creative thinking, delivers discipline, elevates effort. Dance is a forerunner, guides across generations, hones humility, invites inquiry into the interpersonal. It is joyful. It is kin. It is love, lyric and lunacy. Dance moulds the mathematical, nurtures nuance, honours openness. It pushes, primes, plays, persists. It questions and quietens. Dance is radical thinking and resourcefulness. It is a source of stamina, strength and sensitivity. Dance is touch. It upholds the unique and understands the value of the invisible. Dance wants me to both wait and refuse to wait. It is the x-ray of our emotional interior, the yearning and the zeal." This project is supported by Dance Hub SA and Tasdance through a Mind the Gap residency 2019 (Tas/SA) & the Artsist in Residence program at Dance Hub SA in 2020. About Dianne: Dianne Reid is a performer, choreographer, camera operator, video editor, writer and educator. She has created dance for a range of live and screen contexts. Hipsync is her dance video production company established in 2002. Dianne has created some 50 screendance works, many of which have screened internationally. She was a founding member of Outlet Dance in Adelaide (198789) and a member of Danceworks in Melbourne from 199095. From 2004-2006 she was Artistic Director of Dancehouse before receiving an Asialink Performing Arts residency to India in 2006 at Darpana Academy of Performing Arts. Dianne was a lecturer in contemporary dance and dance video at Deakin University (19962018). She was awarded a PhD for her ‘live screendance’ project Dance Interrogations and her site-specific solo work Cabin Fever won Adelaide Fringe weekly awards for Best Dance in 2019 and 2020. Her documentary Nothing But Bones in the Way chronicling her ongoing dance practice with Melinda Smith, a dancer living with cerebral palsy, won the Best Dance Film award at the 15th ReelHeART International Film and Screenplay Festival, Canada. After 26 years of living and working in Melbourne, Dianne has returned to Adelaide, South Australia, where she continues to work as an independent dance and video artist, teacher, writer and disability support worker.
