22.01.2022 As many of you know, we proudly support the Fragile X Association of Australia. This week we wanted to shine some light on the syndrome. 1. Fragile X syndrome is the most common known cause of intellectual disability, which causes behavioural and learning challenges. 2. It affects about 1 in 4,000 males and about 1 in 6,000 females.... 3. Sadly Fragile X-associated disorders are frequently under-recognised and often misdiagnosed. People with the syndrome do frequently have sensory and perceptual processing issues which affect the way they receive information and their ability to use it to learn, which can help identify it. While currently there is no cure, there are a range of treatment interventions and management strategies that are of great benefit. The earlier these interventions and treatments are received the better the outcomes in future life and so early diagnosis is vital. Fragile X Association of Australia are an incredible organisation and registered charity providing support to people living with Fragile X and their families. 11.01.2022 Meet Dr. Lauren Burridge, Osteopath Lauren completed her 5 years of study in Osteopathy at Victoria University, receiving a Bachelor of Science (Clinical Science) and a Masters of Health Science (Osteopathy). Lauren is a government registered osteopath and a member of Osteopathy Australia. Lauren enjoys treating a range of patients from all age groups with an interest in acute sporting injuries, chronic pain, headaches/migraines and pregnancy related pain.
