Tertini Wins Best Pinot Noir Award The celebrations are continuing at Tertini Wines with a raft of major awards over the past few months for their Rieslings and Pinot Noirs, including the Trophy for Best Pinot Noir at the 2012 NSW Wine Awards. The 2012 NSW Wine Awards attracted 676 entries from the State’s best producers, with the 40 highest scoring wines of any variety being recognised by inclusion in the Top 40 Wines. These wines are promoted by the NSW Wine Industry Association as exemplifying the outstanding quality and diversity of wines produced from grapes grown in NSW. Tertini Wines Sales Manager, Robert Kay, said Only 2 Pinot Noirs made it into the Top 40 and we were delighted to see that they were both ours - the 2009 Reserve Pinot Noir which won the Best Pinot Noir Trophy and the 2010 Tertini Pinot Noir which is showing great potential at this relatively early stage. Mr Kay added, The 2009 Reserve Pinot Noir is showing itself to be a pretty special wine, with it also winning a Gold Medal at the 2012 Boutique Wine Awards in recent months. This wine show is significant because it is contested by entries from Australia and New Zealand. The trophy was presented to Tertini Wines’ talented young winemaker, Jonathan Holgate, during the NSW Wine Awards Presentation Dinner hosted by Guillaume at Bennelong last week. Mr Holgate said It is unusual for wines made from such a young vineyard to do so well at wine shows. This looks good for the future of wines made from grapes grown at our Yaraandoo vineyard as well as reinforcing how well the Southern Highlands region suits Pinot Noir. Tertini Wines has also enjoyed further success recently with their Rieslings. The 2006 Tertini Crossroads Riesling, which was only released a few months ago, won the Trophy for Best Riesling at the 2012 NSW Small Winemakers Wine Show and a Gold Medal at the 2012 Winewise Small Vignerons Awards. While the 2009 Tertini Reserve Riesling was awarded a Gold Medal at the 2012 Australian Cool Climate Wine Show Although Tertini Wines has only been making wine since 2005, this Southern Highlands producer has now won over 300 trophies and gold medals - a remarkable achievement for any winery of any size in any location in Australia. Leading Australian wine writer, James Halliday, recognised the quality achieved by Tertini Wines with a 5 star rating in this year’s edition of the Australian Wine Companion. Ends.
