25.01.2022 2 fresh, clean play spaces to start new observations on the children tomorrow We have set up some inside toys in our outside area to see how these are used in a different environment. The kitchen has been set up with just some basic items on top so I can observe how the children implement the use of the food, utensils, teapot and cups. I moved our blocks outside to respark the use of these... they can be paired up with our tool bench, trucks, wagon, or water trough or simpl...y used to create amazing masterpieces the children build. Plus, all our usual favourite items are still available too. I love watching the children create their environment when I set it up minimally so they can add in what THEY want. 22.01.2022 Today we made playdough. We learnt to measure, pour, mix, stir and follow instructions. We had help from our bigger children to assist our littlest friends and all took turns with so much care for each other. ... Once the playdough had formed into dough each child got to help mix the colour through the dough, this was fascinating! Watching the array or colours come through creating galaxy swirls before fully forming the colours, had all the children in awe. The final product was soft, gooey playdough that everyone then spent most of the morning making amazing creations with. The best bit... while everyone was "playing" they were developing fine and gross motor skills, learning team building skills, following a recipie which teaches cooking skills, talking and working out problems together which is great for social development and problem solving. 21.01.2022 Weve been busy this week learning a few things about our beautiful country in the lead up to Australia day. Weve been reading stories about our Australian animals and having an opportunity to be creative and colour them in later. Weve talked lots about our Australian flag and aboriginal flag and how important they both are to Australian people. The children had an opportunity to stand and sing the national anthem together. Today we talked more about our Indigenous people... and the amazing artwork they do. We looked at some traditional artwork dating back centuries in the outback. 20.01.2022 After weeks of blood, sweat and tears (literally) we can finally reveal our new fully dedicated daycare space. This environment has been my vision from day 1 and thankfully my families have trusted my ideas and will be rewarded with such an awesome place for their children to thrive. Mr Funhouse and I have worked around the clock to ensure I met my deadline for opening day and today we hung the final piece on the wall completing the room ... So now we have an amazing home corner where imaginations can run wild. With kitchen, dining table, dress ups, dolls and accessories. Complete with a pretty little makeup table In our art area we have an easel complete with chalk, pencils, textas and an art trolley our budding artists can help themselves to with endless opportunities to create and learn. Over in our construction area is so many open ended resources that I can already envision hours of building, balancing, fixing, repairing, driving, rolling, and lots and lots of sharing between friends The meal area comes complete with the childrens very own kiddy size hand washing station. The tables will double for table top activities and art and craft too Finally our baby zone... this area is our quiet area just for sitting and playing on the soft, squishy, plush carpet. Perhaps shape sorting, learning to stand or just time out reading a book To say Im proud is an understatement! I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do. Tomorrow we unveil the outdoor area

11.01.2022 We have been working lots at the Funhouse to teach resilience and to share our resources. At first personal space and belongings was a big factor because, well lets face it, sometimes we want everything and everywhere to be ours... especially when youre aged 4 or under. But in a group environment sometimes this is impossible so we started doing small and quick group activities. Slowly our activities grew into bigger groups as a whole and included turn taking skills. This ha...s now become second nature to our little family and this morning I snapped this beautiful picture totally child initiated... Mr 3 built this fabulous race track and all 3 friends followed sitting together on the mat and driving their cars around and around. With the lockdown in place for them and limited to no visitors we wanted to spread some happiness in a world thats gone crazy. We hope to create some smiles and sunshine to someones day tomorrow when they get delivered. 01.01.2022 Mental health is so important to stay on top of and even our littlest people suffer with stress and anxiety in their daily lives. This can cause feelings in their bodies that they cant explain and confusing behaviour to the grown ups around them. This year Im trying hard to focus on encouraging and teaching self regulation techniques with all our little friends. I hope by doing this they will feel confident to discuss their feelings, understand them more and learn coping st...rategies for those tricky moments that occur. This week we introduced Cosmic kids yoga which weve been practicing before rest time.
