19.01.2022 @jimmy.ball98 approached us after having some pain in his lower back when squatting and hip thrusting. First looking at his squat we needed to find a foot position in which he would be comfortable in. We adjusted the width by bringing them a little closer together. Moving up the chain I noticed a lack of abdominal bracing before squatting, after teaching him to brace before the squat you could see a noticeable change in buttwink and levels of pain. We then finished of by usi...ng some glute strengthening exercises. Then some lower back stretches to help decrease short term pain. 18.01.2022 How to make exercise a habit (1/3) Start with simple Don’t try and train every day for a whole week. You will find yourself burnt out by weeks end. Instead, start with one day a week. Commit to something you can do, when you become consistent with exercising one day a week then you can start to add more days. 18.01.2022 BELIEF Belief is a big thing. I say this because I started loading weight onto the bar only to hear @taryn_coles say that they weight I put on was too heavy. I disregarded what she said because I knew what she was capable of. After doing 10 reps at 30kg (meaning she proved herself wrong) I put more weight on the bar... and more until we were at 40kg. 15kg more than taryn thought she could lift. My belief in taryn got the weight on the bar, but the belief she had in hers...elf lifted the weight. Not only is this incredible but its setting her up to smash her goals in the future. Your mind is the limiting factor. 16.01.2022 EXERCISE INFO This is one of my favourite anti extension exercises for your core! It is a regressed Ab wheel roll out. By putting an object in front of you when you roll out you are able to keep your core fully engaged. Often what you will see when someone does an ab wheel roll out they will go all the way down until their body is horizontal, but they will have a nice arch in their back. This is a good sign that the core has become disengaged. Your core works in a multitu...de ways so you need to train it as such. 13.01.2022 The Bulgarian split squat. Probably one of my favourite exercises and definitely one that can be found in most of my clients programs, depending on their needs! With multiple uses it can be used as a hip (glute) dominant exercise or a knee (quad) dominant exercise. This is all dependant on foot placement. 08.01.2022 If you couldn’t tell by now I’m a big fan of Carlin Isles. Not only as an athlete but his ability to produce power is incredible. Seen hear doing a sprinters clean, mimicking what it would look when sprinting. The main take away from this would be in order to be fast you need to be able to extend your hip, knee and ankle (triple extension) explosively. This exercise isn’t the only way to build that, this is a more advanced move that is loaded. 07.01.2022 Looking back at some training videos from high school. knowing what I do now, would I train the same way? Definitley not. Yes there is some sort of explosiveness when it comes to the jump, but at the end of the day it’s not a measure of true explosiveness or athleticism. There isn’t much more to the video than it looked cool. If you are training jumps and want to give this a go I do not recommend it, instead try decreasing the height and landing on the box with minimal bend i...n your knees! 02.01.2022 If you want to get fast you need to be able to extend your hips explosively, this is why training your glutes is so important. Here you can see the fastest rugby player in the world producing a ridiculous amount of force for though hip extension. Lifting heavy is good to increase force but you also need to train your ability to produce force in a short period of time, that will increase your power and your ability to sprint faster.
