19.01.2022 Your data does not belong to you..... and that's just the way they want it. Maybe we can change how the powers that be use our private info... maybe.

19.01.2022 Google Chrome, the most popular browser on the planet (in all honesty I prefer Firefox :) ), rolled out a crucial update with version 68 - Chrome will now mark all HTTP sites as ‘Not Secure.‘ Yep, all websites without a SSL certificate will now be marked with a ‘Not Secure’ warning. Firefox users will be used to this as Firefox has been warning about and blocking non HTTPS sites for a while now. Not long ago having a SSL Certificate on your website was considered to be a luxu...ry - now it's a necessity regardless of whether you have a e-commerce sites or are just running a blog! If you don't get HTTPS up and running you WILL see a drop off in your visitor stats in Analytics and that will directly impact your income. GET ON IT NOW. All DarkLight Digital sites are built with Let's Encript SSL enabled. If you need help getting a a SSL certificate up and running on your site, contact me and I'll help you out.

15.01.2022 TECH TIP: If any of you play Flash based games or visit any old Flash based pages (yes they're still out there) on Chrome and you've just updated to v 69.x, you will find that it keeps asking you to allow Flash access each time you restart the browser. If you want to avoid that, then: - go to > chrome://flags/ - search for flash ... - DISABLE "Enable Ephemeral Flash Permissions". :)

03.01.2022 They are called Dark Patterns. These are the deceptive tricks that e-commence and service sites use to try to get you to buy or opt into their services. Be aware and you won't get suckered in.

01.01.2022 Are you running a website that was built 4 plus years ago? If you have and you have not done any back end maintenance, you may be in for a nasty surprise. Your site has security issues and will very soon become more vulnerable to hacking attacks.... You see your site was probably built with a programming language called PHP, and PHP 5.6 is nearing it's end of life. This will affect WordPress and other CMS platforms as well as hand coded sites. If you don't understand how your site was built and you have not had any updates done recently, give me a call and I'll see how I can help.
