20.01.2022 PLAYER PROFILE: Denver Grainger- Barrass (yr 11) Denver has been an outstanding representative within our AFL program. Denver demonstrates sound decision making, strong aerial skills and has shown a positive mindset to build on his understanding of he game and push himself on the track to get the most out of his football.... Denver has been a member of the WAFL state 16s this year and was named in the WAFL under 16s NAB All Australian squad. This is an outstanding achievement to recognise nation wide. We asked Denver to tell us a little bit about himself and the achievements he has achieved so far. PERSONAL INTERESTS: All sports, music, working with disabled children. CAREER AMBITIONS (other than football): When I get older I want to be a role model and I want to aid in working with disabled children. TEAM YOU SUPPORT IN THE AFL: West Coast Eagles PLAYER MOST ADMIRED IN THE AFL: Jeremy Howe, Patrick Cripps, Luke Hodge PERSONAL PLAYER STRENGTHS: Reading the play, marking above head, knowing when to go and when not to dependant on the game situation. POSITION PLAYED AT THE CHAMPIONSHIPS: Full back/ half back HIGHLIGHT OF THE CHAMPIONSHIPS: Meeting such great people and great coaching staff. Travelling across Australia and do the thing I love most. Learning so much about the game and developing my backline skills further. Being approached by some AFL scouts was also good. BEST PIECE OF COACHING ADVICE GAINED You can never go wrong with effort (Tony Micale). Tony would always drill this into his players that no matter the state of the game, always 100% effort. I live by that.

01.01.2022 Upper school As go down in a close one. DRSC: 7.3. 45 Mazenod 6.10. 46... A bitter pill to swallow but a cracking game of footy played this afternoon. Well done to the playing group on making it to the finals this year. The discipline, and never say die attitude was there throughout the game today and your efforts are to be commended. For our 10s and 11s we need to look to build for next year and take our game to the next level. To our 12s who formally have concluded their season today and played their last game for the school, thank you for being outstanding young leaders on field over the past few years. Your buy in to the program has been first rate and you have lead by example throughout your time in the program. Still have this year to finish off though so not time to rest just yet! Finally, I would like to thank Trish Cabassi for her above and beyond support with the program for at least the last 8 years. Her support as trainer, game day medic and at times parent mentor for the boys on game days has been greatly appreciated by the boys, the staff and the school. Thank you Trish and our year 12s. Onto preparing for a big 2019 season for upper school footy!
