23.01.2022 Great to be promoting our local tourism industry!!!
23.01.2022 Congratulations to my Labor colleagues in taking up their new roles in the Ministry. Ingrid Stitt MP is a fantastic addition to the Cabinet and I know she will make an excellent Minister for the portfolios of Workplace Safety, and Early Childhood.
23.01.2022 This weekend, get out and about to enjoy Victoria's fantastic regions. With travel now an option, Regional Victorians can begin enjoying the tourist destinations of Torquay, Jan Juc and the Great Ocean Road. The Geelong community can get out and have a seated dinner for the first time in months, or have a picnic in one of our great local parks. I encourage residents to go support our fantastic local businesses, so that our recovery can begin as case numbers decline.... #tourism #surfcoast #geelong Commerce Torquay Geelong Chamber of Commerce Destination Surf Coast Visit the Great Ocean Road
22.01.2022 Under the eased restrictions, each household is able to form a "bubble" with just one other household, and a maximum of five people from one household can visit the other. There is no formal process to create a household bubble, and you cannot change your nominated household for the duration of the Third Step restrictions. You cannot have visitors to your home who are not in your household bubble, but visits for the purposes of caregiving are allowed. ... To see people outside your household bubble, you are able to gather in groups of 10 outdoors in a public place or at a café or restaurant. This has only been possible thanks to the hard work and sacrifice of regional Victorians, who have followed these important health directions and stopped the spread of Coronavirus in our regions. #coronavirus #COVID19 #householdbubble

19.01.2022 Fantastic to be at the sod turn of the Victorian Big Battery today with Minister Lily D'Ambrosio MP, John Eren MP and Louis de Sambucy the Managing Director of #NeoenAustralia. 18.01.2022 We’re making three Mount Moriac intersections safer thanks to new technology that will detect waiting side-road traffic and temporarily reduce speed limits on the main road to make it easier to turn. We’re targeting the Princes Highway intersections at Hendy Main Road and Cape Otway Road, as well as the intersection of Reservoir Road and Cape Otway Road. We’ve listened to the community and these innovative side road activated speed signs will be installed early next year to ...reduce the risk of crashes. #roadsafety #mountmoriac Mount Moriac, Victoria, Australia
18.01.2022 If you are looking for a great meal, head down to Bomboras Torquay on The Esplanade. I'm proud to be supporting a fantastic local business right here in our community. I encourage others to do the same!
18.01.2022 We are expanding support for Victorians in need of food and essential supplies during the pandemic with an investment of $11.3 million over two years. We are also providing more emergency food packages for Victorians in isolation, and more funding for regional food relief hubs. A range of fantastic organisations have stepped up to help out our fellow Victorians who are doing it tough, which is why nearly half this investment will go to creating a new Victorian Community Food Relief Fund to support those who are providing food relief.
18.01.2022 On October 15, we acknowledge International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. Sadly, miscarriage and stillbirth are not uncommon, with up to one in four pregnancies affected. Last year, we held a very special and intimate service at the Melbourne Museum the first of its kind supported by the Vic Govt in recognition of all the babies that have been lost along the journey to parenthood. Many families within the Victorian community attended. Of course, we cannot gath...er in person this year. That is why the Victorian Government has worked with Red Nose and Sands to create a live, virtual event that will provide Victorian families with support on this day. 17.01.2022 One of the big Budget Wins for our area in the #VicBudget2020 was fast-tracked funding for the South Geelong-Waurn Ponds Rail Upgrade. I know many examples of trains being stuck at Geelong or cancelled, all due to a long bottle-neck beyond South Geelong. This project will see extra track added to allow trains to pass each other both ways, increasing the speed and reliability of services. Early planning and investigation works on this project have already begun, and I am so e...xcited to see it progress. #WaurnPondsRailUpgrade #WaurnPondsRail #Rail
16.01.2022 It was fantastic to announce this week that Grovedale West Primary School will receive $6.56 million to upgrade and modernize their ageing facilities. 15.01.2022 The Surf Coast is a top tourist destination for a reason. Great beaches, fantastic surfing spots, and beautiful coastal views are just some of the reasons we receive many visitors in better years. This region is a gateway to the Great Ocean Road, one of the best coastal drives in the world. Many businesses in the Surf Coast and along the Great Ocean Road rely on tourism to thrive, and they have been struggling all year. I encourage Regional Victorians to get out and about in ...our local region and travel to other parts of Victoria. 12.01.2022 The Surf Coast and the Great Ocean Road are some of the most scenic and beautiful regions in the entire state. I've been very pleased to see local residents getting out and about to support the struggling hospitality and tourism industries. 10.01.2022 When we work together as a community, we can meet the greatest of challenges. Climate change may be the greatest collective challenge we will face in our lifetimes. That is why I'm proud to have tabled a report as Chair of the Environment and Planning Committee on how regional communities across Victoria have tackled the challenges of climate change, and how the State Government can learn from our findings and recommendations Key recommendations include:... collaboration to produce local emissions inventories for all regions across Victoria implementation plans for regional renewable energy roadmaps support for local government to strengthen Greenhouse Alliances. Community energy is an important focus of the report, with recommendations that include: reforms to better enable the development of community owned batteries and local energy trading a dedicated Community Energy Target component within the Victorian Renewable Energy Target a pilot microgrid in a bushfire prone area of Victoria capable of operating while disconnected from the main electricity grid during an emergency assistance to organisations to form renewable energy buyers’ groups and enter into power purchase agreements sourcing 100% renewable electricity to cover the consumption of the Victorian public sector and state owned infrastructure. While action to tackle climate change already makes economic sense for many of our local governments, many others have a greater need for support from the Victorian Government, both in the form of finance and expertise. I am particularly pleased that this report contains a wide range of recommendations aimed at delivering this support. 10.01.2022 We know that the coronavirus pandemic is having a significant impact on people’s lives, and no one is immune. That's why it is important, now more than ever, to help people who have lost their job to find meaningful employment. We have also partnered with the City of Greater Geelong and many other local councils to p...rovide additional council jobs through this program. 08.01.2022 Us Regional Victorians love Melbourne visitors in better times. In good years we welcome them with open arms, but unfortunately it just isn't the right time. There are still hundreds of active cases in Melbourne, and will continue to be for weeks. 05.01.2022 I would like to wish all members of the Sikh Community in Geelong, Victoria and across the world a very happy and joyous Guru Nanak Jayanti, celebrating the 551st birth anniversary of the founder of the Sikh faith, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Last year I attended a fantastic march and festival organized by Gurudwara Sahib Geelong - Sikh Community of Greater Geelong Inc to mark this event and celebrate our multicultural community. While we are unable to conduct similar festivities this year, I wish the Sikh Community a very joyous and Covid-safe celebration. #GuruNanakJayanti2020 #gurunanakdevji
05.01.2022 It was very informative yesterday to visit Anglesea with Minister Lily D'Ambrosio MP to see firsthand strategic fuel breaks put in place by Forest Fire Management Victoria to protect regional bush communities like this.
