24.01.2022 With no Pagent this year, we need something to lift our spirits. Friday the 27th of November is Black Friday and Our Hill is Not Broken and Hill FM 96.5 invites... you to participate in our event. Hill FM will be broadcasting music and carols all-day live from Argent St and welcome all businesses around town to have any Black Friday Specials read out on air for free! Just type up short reads up to 50 words, as many as you want, and send them through to [email protected]. They will be read out on air nestled snugly amongst our music and carols that we will be playing. Also if anyone needs a "Shop Locally" window sticker, let us know as well. Let's keep things local, and help each other out this Christmas. See more

05.01.2022 So proud to share with our community and across Australia on Channel 9 Today Extra that Broken Hill made the cut for the Monopoly game!! Yes, Broken Hill has been featured in a special edition of Monopoly to raise funds due to the impacts of various disasters including bushfires, floods and COVID-19. Australian Community Relief Monopoly launched today alongside a Monopoly puzzle, with Broken Hill joining the Blue Mountains and Batemans Bay in the light blue squares.... The special edition showcases some of the regions that were severely impacted in 2020, and has been created to highlight the community spirit and strength of these stunning locations. The board also features customised ‘Community Chest’ and ‘Chance’ playing cards, making the entire game a truly Australian experience. $5 per Australian Community Relief Edition MONOPOLY game and $2 from each MONOPOLY Puzzle will be donated directly to The Australian Red Cross, to further assist these areas and people in need around Australia. Mayor Darriea Turley AM said the special edition was a great initiative and a welcome promotion for Broken Hill. This is great exposure for our city, a picture of our iconic Living Desert sculptures takes pride of place right in the middle of the board. I think they've captured NSW beautifully in their selection of locations, going from the sea, to the mountains, to the outback. I'm sure the Red Cross will also be very grateful for the funds that will be raised through this version of the game. Charlotte Waalkens, Representative from Winning Moves Australia, the makers of custom MONOPOLY boards licensed from Hasbro, said she hoped the game would provie a highlight for Australian families as Christmas approaches. "The communities chosen have all gone through a tough time for one reason or another as everyone has in 2020 and we thought they deserved something special to remind everyone how incredible they are, and help inject some positive spirit through the Australian Community Relief MONOPOLY game. Choosing which locations to put on the board was unbelievably difficult, as there are so many phenomenal places to choose from in Australia, and we wanted to showcase places above and beyond the usual cities or hotspots. "We feel that the Australian Community Relief MONOPOLY board and puzzle capture the heart of Australia and shine a positive light on regions that otherwise may not normally receive such exposure. We hope it will also bring a bit of much needed joy to Australian families over the holidays." The game can be purchased in Broken Hill at Broken Hill Electronics and Gifts online through: Big W, Sanity, QBD, Dymocks, Toys R Us, The Iconic, Catch, Meeple, Hobbyco, Mr Toys, The Nile, The Gamesmen, Gameology, Gameshop. #BrokenHillProud #brokenhill
