24.01.2022 To everyone who agreed to be a part of 'Class of 2020 - You Rock' - thanks so much for your support for this year's Year 12 cohort. I know all young people have been affected by the pandemic and resulting lockdowns (a special shout-out to the Year 6s across the country and, of course, all Melburnians) but this group (particularly the Queensland cohort) have had it really tough. There's no doubt in my mind that they will not only survive but thrive in the years ahead! #classof2020yourock

22.01.2022 A wonderful piece from the ABC website talking to NSW Year 12s dealing with completing their HSC and the loss of so many traditional 'rites of passage' during these crazy times. As one young woman is quoted as saying - she doesn't expect to hear whining from her children - "I feel like I'll be telling my kids I was in the class of 2020, so they can't complain about anything ... I had to graduate during a pandemic." Well worth a read - wonderful, amazing and resilient young people.

12.01.2022 This is certainly not unexpected but it's yet another blow for this year's Year 12 cohort. Whether you like or loathe 'Schoolies' it is an event that many (but certainly not all) young people look forward to. Even if they weren't interested in attending, all of them are affected by this as they see one more thing that is ripped away ... This group of wonderful teens really do need all the love & support we can give them ...

11.01.2022 To Year 12s across the country, starting or about to start their exams, remember that so many of us are thinking of you and know that you’ve had it so tough this year. Thanks to so many who took the time to support - ‘Class of 2020 - You Rock’ including @shaundivineys @TheMarciaHines @SamanthaJadeOfficial #classof2020yourock

08.01.2022 Written from a social researcher's perspective, this article discusses the loss of 'rites of passage' for 2020's Year 12 cohort due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The cancellation of 'formal' Schoolies' events across most of the country may be seen as positive by some parents but we need to remember that they do play an important role for many young people. As the authors say - "While we maintain our focus on community health and safety, we must recognise that what might look like frivolous or risky activities can have huge significance for young people as they move into adulthood ... This means they also have huge significance for our society more broadly."

06.01.2022 Some Year 12s have had bad press in the past week but most of us understand that the vast majority of the Class of 2020 are amazing young people. This group have had a really tough year and recent media coverage hasn't helped them at all. Most are resilient but some are struggling, just as they're about to start their exams. To give them some encouragement I've asked some well-known Australians for their support. From tomorrow you'll start to see shout-outs like mine pictured... here popping up on social media. If you'd like to add your support simply take a photograph of yourself holding a sign which reads ‘Class of 2020 You Rock' (you can print out a sign here: http://bit.ly/CLASSOF2020YOUROCK) and share it on your social media with the hashtags #classof2020 #classof2020yourock

05.01.2022 It's not often that I get the opportunity to promote a Parent Information Evening that I'm delivering to a wider audience but tomorrow night I'm presenting an online talk to the Bubbling Up network of parents in Melbourne. They have given me permission to open up the session to others ... So if you're interested, further details are listed below ...

01.01.2022 This was a lovely surprise - my amazing parents (both in their 80s but looking great!) and wonderful brother and sister-in-law (Mark and Shannon) sent me this photo of support for my campaign 'Class of 2020 - You Rock' from Perth. Haven’t seen them (as well as my nephews and niece) since March when the borders were closed. I miss them all terribly and them taking the time to do this just made me miss them just that little bit more #classof2020yourock
