23.01.2022 Last week we farewelled Kaylene McKinnon from her position as Admin Assistant. Kaylene has been a valued staff member for almost 7 years. Kaylene also volunteered as a board member, serving as secretary/treasurer for a number of years. We will continue to see her volunteering her time in the kitchen for our Social Support Group in the future. We thank Kaylene for all her hard work and wish her well.

22.01.2022 COVID 19 Update Firstly I would like to thank the Dartmoor community for the phone calls and visits of support to us at the centre over the past week. You share our concern for our staff and those most at risk in the community with regard to the rapid community transmission of COVID 19 in Victoria over the past week. I thank our staff, in particular our clinicians for their diligent work as they uphold our conservative approach to managing risk. In light of the additional 288... positive cases in Victoria today we will continue our current service hours for an additional two weeks and then review. The centre is open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays, appointment preferred. Our staff continue to work 5 days per week delivering social support, home visits, monitoring and advocacy for those in need. We are available for primary care matters on other days on demand. Our emergency role in the community remains unchanged. Should a member of staff be exposed to the virus the fall out is significant for a small service such as ours. I know it is not easy but we plead with you to please stay home, limit your social contacts, social distance and wash your hands. If you cannot social distance the current advice is that you consider wearing a mask. Lisa Hutchins Health Service Manager Dartmoor Bush Nursing Centre Inc See more

20.01.2022 CROSS BORDER UPDATE 1. SAPOL MAP CHANGES South Australia have acknowledged they made an error when calculating 40km from the border into Victoria, so Caster...ton is now in. Well, most of Casterton is now in. The line is a strict 40km from the Vic-SA border so the town is cut in two. When you apply for an essential traveller permit as a cross border community member the SA exemptions team will use geospatial technology to work out which side of the line you live. Its not ideal but its a step forward. Were still working to get the entire township included within the limit, but with positive cases in Glenelg this will be difficult to achieve. Map here: https://www.police.sa.gov.au//im/0008/911375/BorderVIC.GIF 2. APPLYING FOR AN ESSENTIAL TRAVEL PERMIT/EXEMPTION There are a number of reasons you can apply for essential travel, most commonly to access farmland or property, health reasons (to see a specialist in Adelaide), or compassionate grounds. Very few exemptions are being approved at this time, and this is likely to become more difficult as Victorias COVID cases continue to rise. If you are applying for an essential travel permit it is highly recommended that you include supporting evidence. Letters from a professional are highly regarded - whether health, welfare, agricultural or legal - depending on your own reason for travel. The letter should be specific to you, not a generic template letter. Applications and evidence examples here: https://www.police.sa.gov.au//cross-border-travel-applicat 3. CROSS BORDER COMMUNITY TRAVEL LIMITS If you are a cross border community member you are only limited in your travel interstate, not your home state. That is, a Victorian with a cross border community permit may only travel to the 40km boundary into SA, but can travel anywhere in Victoria (while complying with current lockdown directives). That is, you will not lose your status as a cross border community member if you travel beyond 40km into Victoria. The reverse is true for South Australians. (NB: this is not the case in NSW where they have a cross border zone that you cannot leave, which is where some of the confusion is coming from.) 4. COVID TESTING REQUIREMENTS Six COVID testing stations will be set up on key checkpoints along the Vic/SA border (I havent got confirmation of the locations just yet, but there is definitely one on the Dukes Highway). These testing stations will be for freight and logistics only. Domestic travellers can be permitted to travel into SA and immediately get tested upon entry to SA, but this is at the complete discretion of Police. Most are allowing you to go straight to a testing location so being very fair and kind. The Victorian Government is firm on not allowing asymptomatic COVID testing, even for cross border permit requirements, so youll have to be tested in SA. Accessing medical treatment (including a COVID test) is an allowable reason to travel for cross border community members. 5. BORDER POLICE Police are doing the best job they can. Briefings are not always in depth and we are all trying to adapt to the regular changes in rules. Usually police have a level of discretion, so if youre polite, respectful and understanding of their situation it is much more likely theyll return this treatment to you. Be kind.

19.01.2022 As wearing masks is now mandatory, here are a few handy tips.

19.01.2022 A massive thanks to the Dartmoor Community and beyond. We raised $1200 this year for Australias Biggest Morning Tea. 17.01.2022 Regional Victoria will move to Stage 3 restrictions at midnight. For detailed info please refer to the DHHS website under Stage 3 restrictions for Michell LGA a...s the government hasnt updated their website yet to be statewide: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/stage-3-restrictions-covid-19 Note that Melbourne is in Stage 4 so are subject to 5km limits of movements and have much harsher business lockdowns. A lot of the coverage in the media has been related to Stage 4 restrictions, so its easy to becomes confused - its worth checking. If you have a question about a recreational or business activity call the COVID hotline on 1800 675 398, leave query in the comments below or email me [email protected]

14.01.2022 COVID DRIVE THRU UPDATE We ask anyone still wishing to be covid tested to please not line up today and to wait until tomorrow 10am - 5pm (please scatter your ar...rivals). We will be stopping anyone from entering the health service line up from 2pm onwards (if you are in Fern Street at 2pm and have not entered our site you will be turned away) The line up for testing was much bigger than we could have expected and we thank everyone for being patient as we understand some people have waited over 2 hours for testing. Big shout out to our admin staff who have been busily taking each person details and sending them onto clinical staff for swabbing. If you are still waiting to be tested and need to come back tomorrow or Friday, please keep yourself isolated at home as required to keep everyone safe. Thank You.

04.01.2022 NEW DRIVE-THROUGH TESTING OPTION A new COVID-19 drive-through testing program has been introduced in Portland as demand surges for testing in the region. Portla...nd District Health (PDH) has established an additional testing option, using a drive-through approach to meet this demand. Anyone with any symptoms including: fever, runny nose, sore throat, cough, chills or sweats, shortness of breath, loss of sense of smell or taste, should be get themselves tested. We ask everyone to firstly call our Fever Clinic number 5521 0387 as this enables us to get all the paper work and testing kit labeling done before you enter the drive-through queue and enables us to speed up the process. PDH has extra staff manning phone lines. The new drive-through testing will be available 9.30am 4.30pm weekdays and 10am 2pm on weekends until further notice. If you are chasing hard copies of result to return to work or daycare purposes please do not phone the clinic. We ask you to email: [email protected] We have no confirmed cases to date in Portland and no new cases confirmed in the Glenelg Shire. Thank you.
