01.01.2022 Gee, one of our very favourite regulars, is getting into the Halloween spirit today & being a seasoned trick or treater, has some safety tips to share Lock up the LOLLIES! Pets have a keen sense of smell and will find stashed treats! Chocolate & lollies containing xylitol are especially toxic to pets. Give us a call right away if your pet gets into the lollies.... Ditto for GLOW STICKS Pets (especially cats) find glow sticks to be a lot of fun to play with and often puncture them. While most of the sticks are labeled as non-toxic, they do have a extremely bitter taste which may lead to drooling and racing around the house. A little treat or sip of milk will usually stop the taste reaction. Make sure your pet is IDENTIFIED & VISIBLE Extra people on the streets and strange costumes can spook pets and cause them to bolt. Microchips with current contact details, reflective collars, and ID tags can all help reunite you with your pet. Keep pets CALM Even pets who are kept indoors may experience intense anxiety over the strangely dresses visitors. Keeping your pets away from trick-or-treaters may be enough, but if you think more will be needed, be sure to give us a call in advance to discuss options. Check those COSTUMES Ensure costumes fit well and aren’t going to slip and tangle them or cause a choking hazard if chewed on. Never leave a costumed pet unattended. If you have any questions, please give us a call on 89279033. Photo credit to Gee’s family, Carrol & Jenny
