22.01.2022 Recovering files yourself. If you opt to try and recover your data yourself be sure to save it to a different drive than the one you are recovering from. Recovering to the same drive can result in overwriting the files you are attempting to recover making it a futile exercise and ruining your chances of successful recovery. Any worthwhile data recovery software will prompt you with a warning about this very topic. Do not save to the same drive. Of course if you are worried about losing important data please consult a data recovery professional for advice before attempting DIY data recovery.

22.01.2022 Data Imaging explained. If you're not sure about imaging imagine it this way. Take a book that you want to read and copy all its contents to a blank book. Many of the pages are easy to read and hence copy, but there are some pages that have been damaged, torn, had water spilled on them or have simply faded over time and the writing is not easily legible. So you copy out what you can read and go back after with a magnifying glass to look closely at the writing you couldn't rea...d before. Once you look really hard you might find some writing that you can read but also some that you can't. If it can't be read you can't copy it right! Same with hard drives, when sectors can't be read easily like some of the pages in the book they can't be copied (imaged). Only data that can be read can be imaged. Hope this helps to explain the process of imaging. See more
