24.01.2022 Today I met Cici a tenacious Bulgarian Chihuahua with a reputation for biting. Despite the language barrier we hit it off.

22.01.2022 Looking for Christmas ideas for the cat who has everything?

21.01.2022 I've had a few queries about what services I can offer at a home visit. My repertoire includes vaccinations, microchipping, heartworm, skin conditions, ear/eye infections, suprelorin (chemical castration), mismating injections, incontinence, urinary tract infections, and most general ailments. I also offer at home euthanasia when the time comes. I am not able to do services that require sedation (difficult nail trims, stitch ups etc) and the Vet Board frowns upon desexing at home. For very poorly pets (not eating, lethargic, pale gums etc) get straight to the clinic. For all emergency work I highly recommend the 24hr clinic on Anderson st.

20.01.2022 As of 10am this morning my phone has finally stopped , he has been struggling along for a few weeks but has sent his last text . I will be fulfilling appointments already made but will be difficult to reach until Sam Sungs successor is up and running Apologies especially to those whose calls and messages may be lost in the interim

16.01.2022 I will be away from July 5 -28th. Far away in fact, going to visit the inlaws in Bulgaria. Apologies in advance as I won't be in communication. Anyone wanting a top up of ongoing medication please text me on 0488207212 and I will endeavour to help you in the next 10days.

15.01.2022 Just a friendly dinner time reminder about Spirometra tapeworm. Most commonly contracted from eating geckos and not controlled by topical wormers (revolution/advocate etc) This one happened to come from a pup that had an inauspicious start to life and probably had to eat whatever she could find. Praziquantel (Popantel, Milbemax , Drontal etc) paralyse tapeworm which detach and are passed.

14.01.2022 Just a reminder of what a paralysis tick looks like. This one was off a dog in Whitfield. If you've let your flea and tick treatment lapse now is the time of year to get back on it. Lots of options, nexgard, bravecto, simparica, seresta etc.. available through my vet wholesaler obay.com.au with the vet code 4NGEVL16

14.01.2022 Cairns dog wash has been going since 1990. The same year the Hubble telescope went in to orbit. Give Browny a call for reliable service that's out of this world.

14.01.2022 Bengal Cats at Yaps! Not something you see every day

13.01.2022 I can now offer discounted pet products online through my vet supplier. Go to obay.com.au with the vet code 4NGEVL16 Happy shopping, all the best Dave

11.01.2022 I have had a few reports of snake bites lately . If your dog is biten I recommend getting to the 24hr clinic on Anderson St (Opp the Taipans ticket shop ) . If it is a bite on a limb then a tourniquet could be applied otherwise get there as soon as . If it is safe to bring the snake (including the head ) this will help in selecting antivenom . I am having a short break for the second week of school holidays and back in action Oct 9th Cheers Dave

11.01.2022 Got myself a little Aussie Mascot today! Oi Oi Oi

09.01.2022 Just discovered the hidden talents of one of my lovely clients. Locally made organic and yummy (although I can not personally verify) 5 PAWS ***** https://www.facebook.com/harleyandmedogtreats

06.01.2022 It's that time of the year again. Paralysis ticks are about. As always early detection will improve your chances of a happy outcome. Sometimes a subtle cough/vocal changes is the first clue, progressing to retching/vomiting wobbliness etc. This photo is from a client in Mt Sheridan, caught early on Sunday and only a 24hr stay at the Emergency clinic. Nexgard, Bravecto, Seresta, Advantix etc are all good but checking and noticing the signs early is paramount. www.obay.com.au with the vet code 4NGEVL16 if you'd like to order products (and I get a little kickback too!)

06.01.2022 I'm gearing up for a Christmas catch up in New Zealand, my last day for appointments is December 18th. Thanks to all the cats and dogs I've had the pleasure to have known this year. And all the best to their humans, safe and happy holidays Dave

06.01.2022 I have had great feedback regarding Antinol rapid. Improving mobility especially in older dogs, but also helping dogs with allergic/atopic skin. One of my most committed clients has tried everything and swears by it. And it's made in New Zealand! Available at a great price through obay.com.au with the vet code 4NGEVL16

04.01.2022 A client has had great results with these sun suits for her Great Dane. It has significantly reduced allergic /atopic skin problems so I thought I should share

03.01.2022 Harley has been busy making yummy natural treats. Gus aka "The Schlag" gives them 2 paws up!

03.01.2022 I have just completed Covid-19 infection control training through the Department of Health. I am hoping to remain available for as long as possible. All the best, Dave

03.01.2022 I was just telling these guys I'll be taking it easy for the second week of school holidays (6th -12th) hopefully working on the golf swing and my daughter's golf cart driving skills!

01.01.2022 Just a reminder, I am away now until July 28th, will probably take a day or two to get back on Aussie time, so back at work July 30th. Apologies in advance, I'm guessing (hoping) the mountainous regions of Bulgaria won't have wifi so I'm signing off for now. Thanks for all the ongoing support which makes a trip like this possible.
