25.01.2022 A focused gaze from a sub adult male lion. Taken in the Kalahari near Nossob rest camp. This young male was hanging around with his brother in the same spot for a couple days, they had recently taken down a gemsbok together and had no need to move on. We got to spend a great amount of time with them, it was truly amazing. #wildlifephotography #photography #lions #daveybrandphotography

Rhino poaching has escalated in the last few years because of the demand for Rhino horns. 06.01.2022 Walking with Elephants We were living in Botswana helping run a lodge in the Okavango Delta and in one of our breaks we heard the elephant herd move into camp. We knew there was a walk way that we could get to without disturbing them as they were still across the river. This has got to be up there with one of the best experiences of our lives as we sat watching these beautiful animals they began to come across the river towards us. ... Tess was freaking out (just a little ) as they literally walked right past us, babies and all. We got to watch them frolicking across the river and They seemed completely unperturbed by our presence (thankfully!) because a breeding herd can be pretty fierce when protecting their babies. 02.01.2022 This red hartebeest is in the unfortunate situation of being sized up by a black rhino. Black rhinos are notoriously grumpy (aggressive) animals. In the 1970s there were around 65 000 black rhinos in the wild but by 1990 the total population dropped to under 2 300! Whilst the population is slowly steadying itself again, the threat of poaching is forever there.
