21.01.2022 Online sale of artworks Around late November each year Blue Dog Glass hold a studio sale, where local artists sell their works direct to the public. This year... we are unable to hold a physical sale at the studio so instead we are going online. We have set up a new page on our website simply named 'art sale'. On this page you will find a variety of amazing pieces by a selection of artists working in a variety of mediums; glass, jewellery, painting etc. Over the coming months we will keep add more works, so keep checking in.So if you would like to support an independent artist here is your chance. Most artists, like the rest of the community, have struggled over 2020 to make a living, with galleries and markets closed. Supporting artists by purchasing their works is a great way to ensure a vital arts scene. So instead of spending your festive dollars with a multi national think about shopping where it will make a real difference. Items are located at various studios around Australia and postage will be organised once purchased, at this point in time we are unable to offer pick up at the studio, hopefully this changes soon. If you have any questions about any of the works for sale here please email Blue Dog Glass on [email protected] https://bluedogglass.com.au/art-sale/

Workshop: Casting with Evelyn Dunstan Venue: David Hobdays Studio, 9 Diggorra Crt., Point Lonsdale, Vic. 3225 Dates: 12 - 15 & 19th March 2020 Maximum 5 students Accompanied and supported by Cathy Newton. A hands-on intensive workshop in lost wax casting, with an emphasis on the benefits that wax as a medium offers and what you can only achieve with this process. Building 3 dimensional forms that incorporate undercuts, explore angles, thick to thin and capture fine detail in a closed casting. While we can step you through a set project, there is a freedom for you to apply your own ideas and style, experimenting and practising new skills in different directions. Days 1 - 3: will focus on the ways you can work with wax. Starting with ideas and techniques and how to make that wax do what you want to achieve your vision, through to further developing wax skills that apply to your own style, construction, bracing, flow, sprues and reservoirs and having a work ready to cast. Day 4: Techniques and manipulating investment moulding methods and modifying refractory materials to apply to your individual application with the aim to reduce the amount of time and risk divesting and cold working. Day 5: Divesting the reveal. (alternative arrangements can be made if your time away from home is limited and you only want to attend the first 4 days) Gaffer casting crystal (will be the main glass used, with some experimenting in Blackwoods). This workshop is not for absolute beginners. Some knowledge of lost wax casting or previous related kiln formed/warm glass experience. Days will be fun, long and full! Class hours 9 - 5, with studio access until 10pm $1,250 includes all materials and equipment, lunches and a night of wood-fired pizzas included. Point Lonsdale is a coastal town and has a lot of accommodation but March is a busy time so you will need to book early. I recommend Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale Accomodation. Contact Paul 0407 866 568 https://qpla.com.au He has two properties available 12-14 March, a beach house sleeping up to 10 and and three apartments (2 two bedroom and one single). If you are interested in sharing let Paul know and he will arrange it. This house is behind my studio - 3 bedrooms https://www.stayz.com.au/holiday-rental/p7446093. Participants must wear either full frame glasses or bring safety glasses, dust mask and wear closed shoes. The class size is limited to 5 and a minimum of 3 are needed for the workshop to go ahead.
