23.01.2022 Gannons Park in Peakhurst has undergone a major redevelopment to preserve its natural environment and improve its sporting facilities. The project links upper and lower Gannons more closely than ever before, and has been supported by the Federal and State Governments and Georges River Council.

21.01.2022 Social distancing is critical in slowing the spread of Coronavirus. From today, further measures are in place to help slow the virus: Public gatherings, excluding household members, have been reduced to a maximum of two people. Check State and Territory websites for further enforcement information. Everyone should stay home unless you are: shopping for essentials, receiving medical care, exercising or travelling to work or education.... People aged over 70, aged over 60 with pre-existing conditions, or Indigenous people aged over 50 should stay home wherever possible for their own protection. 21.01.2022 Today I congratulated Rebecca Harrison for being selected as the winner of the Banks Volunteer of the Year Award for 2020. Rebecca is a very hardworking volunteer who has served the Penshurst West Public School P&C and Lugarno FC community for many years. This year more than 60 dedicated volunteers were nominated for the award by community organisations across the Banks area. ... Congratulations to Rebecca, and to all the other volunteers who were honoured today.

20.01.2022 Hannans Road at Riverwood is a busy location and its important to make it as safe as possible. The Federal Government is investing more than $330,000 to improve safety at the pedestrian crossing and other intersections along Hannans Road.

19.01.2022 Shopfront Arts Co-Op has recently completed a major upgrade to its building in Carlton. Shopfront offers unique opportunities for young people to get involved in the arts and I was very pleased that the Federal Government was able to support this project.



18.01.2022 It was great to visit the Norm Oneill Cricket Training Facility in the Penshurst Sports Precinct today. The new facility features 12 state of the art turf and synthetic wickets and has attracted amateur and professional cricketers from across Sydney. The Federal Government has contributed $1 million towards the redevelopment of the Penshurst Sports Precinct, which will include a new synthetic football field.

18.01.2022 Great to congratulate Harper from Cub Bee House Early Learning Centre in Panania on winning the Banks Christmas Card competition today. Harper's fantastic drawing of an elf won this year's Early Learning Centre competition.

I want to thank everyone who participated in the campaign - the candidates, their supporters, and the many people on all sides who volunteered their time for causes they believe in. 17.01.2022 It was good to visit Little Wings at Bankstown Airport on Monday to see the new plane that has been purchased through a $700,000 Federal Government grant. Little Wings provides an incredibly important service, transporting kids and their families from regional NSW to Sydney for medical care.

17.01.2022 When turning onto Uranus Road from Lang Street at Padstow, it can be difficult to clearly see oncoming traffic. The Federal Government is providing $230,000 to install a roundabout at this intersection to help improve safety for local residents. Construction is now underway.

17.01.2022 Great to see that the new boardwalk at Myles Dunphy Reserve in Oatley is now open. We were able to secure $200,000 in Federal funding for this project.

11.01.2022 For decades, Yeramba Lagoon at Picnic Point was overgrown with weeds. In recent years weve removed a large amount of weeds, and construction will begin shortly on a weir that will connect the Lagoon to the Georges River, which will further improve water quality. Weve invested more than $500,000 in this important project to restore the condition of the Lagoon.

11.01.2022 For decades, Yeramba Lagoon at Picnic Point has been cut off from the Georges River. We’re close to reconnecting the lagoon to the river again, with the installation of a new weir structure this week. By reconnecting it to the river, Yeramba Lagoon will once again become a body of water that can be enjoyed by the local community. The Federal Government has provided more than $500,000 in funding for this important project.

10.01.2022 The 2020 Banks Community Photography Competition is now open. This annual competition allows residents in the local area to showcase the Banks electorate through their lens. To enter the competition, take a photo of any location in the Banks electorate, and email your submission with your name and the name of your piece to:... [email protected] Entries close on Friday 18th September. Finalists will receive a framed copy of their photo as well as a framed certificate. In addition, the winner will receive a $250 voucher towards photography supplies. Below are some outstanding entries from 2019.

08.01.2022 Today I congratulated Alex Glenie from Big Chief Plumbing in Mortdale on being selected as the Banks Apprentice of the Year for 2020. Alex was a very worthy winner, and has shown great dedication to his work and studies.

06.01.2022 Shopfront Theatre in Carlton does an amazing job in our local community supporting young people in the arts. Glad that they have secured a $50, 000 grant from the Federal Government to hold a youth arts programme later this year.

06.01.2022 Theres nowhere else like Carltons Shopfront Arts Co-Op - a fantastic organisation thats been at the forefront of the arts in St George for 40 years. We were able to assist with funding for major new facilities, and it was great to visit the work site today.

05.01.2022 Yesterday I visited Peakhurst Park to announce that the Federal Government has committed $500,000 to funding an upgrade to the main playing field at Peakhurst Park. For some time, the poor condition of the field has meant that games have had to be relocated or cancelled. Work will begin soon to level and re-turf the field, which will allow Peakhurst United FC to have a high quality playing surface.

04.01.2022 Since 2015, I have been opposing Canterbury-Bankstown Councils radical rezoning Plans. In 2018, Council withdrew its Plans. But it has now launched a new Plan, which would see more than 25,000 residents added to Padstow, Revesby, Panania, and East Hills. Its a ridiculous Plan which would change our area forever and must be withdrawn.... Yesterday I launched a petition against this Plan, which has already been signed by more than 700 residents. 04.01.2022 CCTV cameras have now been installed at Chivers Hill shops in Lugarno. $12,000 of Federal Government funding was put towards these cameras, which will help to maintain the safety of the area. Thanks to Mark Coure MP and Georges River Council for also supporting this project.

04.01.2022 Really pleased that 3Bridges at Penshurst will be receiving funding from the Government to grow their programs, including their Inclusive Volunteering Program which helps people with a disability to develop skills and social connections through volunteer placements in the workplace. It was great to visit 3Bridges with Paul Fletcher to make this announcement.
