25.01.2022 DESTRUCTIVE STORM WARNING Be prepared; may cause flash flooding, may contain large hail. Are you storm ready?

25.01.2022 Please be safe! Lets hope the Redland City Council get that alert system working for the storm season

24.01.2022 Election signs are still up around the Redland City Council region too. It’s time Council and the ECQ started handing out fines for those who don’t follow protocol. I’m sure Council would be happy to issue penalties to those who park on verges/footpaths.

23.01.2022 Karen Williams / Redland City Council - where’s the sculptures at? Why hasn’t the art been placed in the gardens as announced? What condition are they in? Someone told me one piece of artwork is sitting in a Council depot yard out in the elements, deteriorating. Is this true? When will Council place the sculptures, for public admiration, as paid for by the rate payers? Redland City Bulletin

23.01.2022 See a Koala in the Wharf Street vicinity? Please let the Koala Action Group know so this little one can be reunited with her Mum

23.01.2022 More wet weather on the way

23.01.2022 COVID-19 detected in sewage at Cleveland If you are feeling unwell, or have any symptoms, please get tested and self-isolate at home

23.01.2022 Congratulations to the SUPA team at IGA Mount Cotton

22.01.2022 If you have information, please call Policelink

22.01.2022 Don’t let a billionaire mining magnate influence another election. Let him waste his money, but don’t believe his death tax lies this election. He must think people are stupid - recycling the same scare campaign from the last federal election. Don’t be fooled twice. Clive Palmer and his so called political party needs to be given the boot ... The guy spent most of his time in Federal Parliament sleeping.

20.01.2022 The so-called Independent candidate runs off to the ECQ and the media screeching about signs, yet failed to follow the ECQ rules for authorising her own signs. What a muppet. Thank god she wasn’t elected to Parliament. If she can’t follow simple election rules regarding election signage & has thumbed her nose at following the rules during an election, why would anyone want to elect someone who breaks the east-to-follow rules?

20.01.2022 Councillor Rowanne McKenzie refuses to answer questions by Police for the fake account traced to her home computer. If the Police have the evidence, what more do they need? Charge them both. One will either rat out the other or admit and take the fall to protect the career of the other. The Mayor must come out and make her position very clear to the community - does she support this kind of behaviour?... Andrew Laming says that’s the argy bargy of politics and we should move on. We shouldn’t just accept this as that’s politics We must exterminate this kind of behaviour in Politics! Cr McKenzie should do the right thing and resign. She has been caught and is an embarrassment to the Redland City.

20.01.2022 What would you like to see at this rate payer owned site?

19.01.2022 Congratulations Dr Young. Well deserved award

18.01.2022 Did anyone get the Redland City Council’s elusive SMS warning? No? Me either. Hope they didn’t pay too much for a system that doesn’t do what residents were promised.

18.01.2022 Redland City state seats unlikely to change. Although still early, based on flow and predictive patterns: Capalaba: Don Brown MP (Labor) will remain... Redlands: Kim Richards Member for Redlands (Labor) likely to remain Oodgeroo: Mark Robinson MP (LNP) likely to stay Springwood: Mick de Brenni for Springwood (Labor) will remain Annastacia Palaszczuk MP will remain Premier!

18.01.2022 Wet weekend on the way Are you storm ready?

18.01.2022 Energex has recorded more than 1,500 lightning strikes hitting the ground. BOM mapping indicates more storm cells on the way.

17.01.2022 #BREAKING: A cleaner at Brisbane's Grand Chancellor hotel has tested positive to coronavirus, as well as a young child who recently returned from the UK. Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young has urged anyone in Sunnybank Hills, Calamvale and Algester to get tested if they have COVID-19 symptoms. More: https://bit.ly/3bat5oK

17.01.2022 Doesn’t Redland City Council have a mainland evacuation shelter? Karen Williams Don Brown MP Kim Richards... Mark Robinson MP Mick de Brenni See more

16.01.2022 What’s on the Redland City Council wish list?

16.01.2022 What a little legend. Our local hero A Redlands boy has helped bring his twin brothers back to life after they were found floating face down in the family’s backyard pool.

16.01.2022 Does Lyle still work for Dr Mark Robinson MP? This reckless behaviour of thumbing the Police needs more than a slap on the wrist. No border pass = no re-entry.

15.01.2022 This is politics in the Redlands. Disgusting isn’t it? and this is just one of many stories... I’m concerned that the Councillor hasn’t been held accountable or named publicly! Why isn’t the Police investigating further? Do they just stop when someone refuses to answer questions? How pathetic.... I had interactions with Scarlett Rivers during the election campaign and now I know who it is, I’ll being going back on screenshots.

15.01.2022 Do Not Panic Buy! Don’t be the reason a mother cannot feed her baby, or an elderly couple cannot eat this weekend. Reports from across Redland City is that roads are congested and shopping centres are packed. The whole reason for mandatory masks from 6pm is to stop the spread - but these panic buyers could very well be spreading the virus now.... Grocery stores will remain open over the weekend. Please remain calm!

15.01.2022 Why is a mining company sending me unsolicited texts? Mineralogy isn’t exempt from the spam laws, so if you’ve received this text, report it. https://www.acma.gov.au/stop-getting-spam

15.01.2022 Redland City Council Councillors take note. This is how you develop an inclusive community. Our public toilets are disgraceful. Not suitable for those with disabilities, the elderly or mothers with prams. What really shocked me (especially during this period of covid where we are told to wash our hands appropriately) is that our public toilets don’t have soap dispensers!... How ridiculous is that???

14.01.2022 A great move by the Fraser Coast Council. Show the vandals that they won’t win. Now they will need to look at an ugly (and embarrassing) fence every day for at least 2 years. Redland City Council take note. Stop letting residents who poison mangroves and trees for a better view get away with it. Do something to show it won’t be tolerated.

14.01.2022 This is why weather alerts are important Redland City Council

14.01.2022 COVID-19 ALERT: New strain detected in Queensland The Member for Redlands, Kim Richards MP has also reported COVID-19 being detected in waste water at the Victoria Point treatment plant. If you feel unwell, get tested and self isolate until you have been given the all clear.... Don’t risk it. Get tested.

14.01.2022 With a major gastro outbreak, do you agree Redland City Council should have hand soap dispensers in public toilets? #RedlandCity #RedlandsCoast

13.01.2022 Redland City Council launched a text message service, now they tell residents to follow BOM and listen to the radio for alerts. Council loves announcing big ideas in the media, but fail to deliver - again. Thank god the internet never forgets. On behalf of residents, I will submit a Right To Information request to get answers;... - what has Council spent on the alert system - why isn’t it working as promised - what happened from the announcement to now, where Council tell residents to seek alerts from other sources https://amp.couriermail.com.au//5e92d4b6bb708a27c9b5bc9977

13.01.2022 Are you storm ready As storm season kicks off, ensure your home is prepared in an emergency; extra batteries for torches, pets locked up, fragile and light yard items packed away, cars under cover (if possible), and alternative menu should the power be out for an extended period. Remember, if it’s flooded, forget it.... Fallen power lines? Don’t risk it. Report it

12.01.2022 The Australian Government are set to introduce tough laws that will take strong action to get abusers offline. This is welcomed news. At the last local government election a huge number of fake accounts were used to bully, slander and spread lies and misinformation. It’s time we had truth in media, that includes social media.... I look forward to seeing how this legislation and the powers for the eSafety Commissioner roll out.

09.01.2022 Can you spare a gift or two for someone who may be lonely this Christmas?

09.01.2022 Why is Redlands always in the news for all the wrong reasons? During the local government election (fake profile) Scarlett Rivers was a nuisance, but this goes beyond Facebook trolling. This is disgraceful behaviour of someone running for office (and is now a Councillor). What hope do we have when this kind of behaviour occurs by people entrusted to represent the community?... Cr Rowanne McKenzie has been caught out, red handed by the Police and should resign immediately. I look forward to a response from the Redland City Council Mayor on this incident and if she condones this type of behaviour during an election campaign or otherwise. Police investigations into a number of complaints are on-going and those responsible will eventually pay the ultimate price for their behaviour.

08.01.2022 Wasn’t this white water rafting facility pitched by the Mayor for Redlands?

08.01.2022 Council needs to get back to delivering the basics first and foremost. Focus on improving our community infrastructure, not hopeful cashcow developments. Have Redland residents got a return on investment yet??

06.01.2022 Should Queensland consider the same? The war on drugs isn’t being won and is costing billions of dollars in policing, courts and health services. We need a new approach.

06.01.2022 I posted about this last week on my page. I’m glad the Bulletin has picked up the story. Council need to get their books in order and start providing BASIC services to residents. Soap isn’t such a big ask!

04.01.2022 Good news for dog owners and local wildlife. Redlands residents will be consulted on proposed changes to Animals in Public Places register. Redland City Council will ask the community for feedback on a proposal to reduce the number of locations where dogs on lead are prohibited or restricted.... Mayor Karen Williams said the proposed changes to the Register of Animals in Public Places, under Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2015, followed a city wide review. This register hasn’t been looked at for a long time and we wanted to make sure it was still current and still appropriate, she said. Council assessed each of the areas and looked at why the prohibition or restriction was there and if there was still a reason for it to remain, and now we want to hear from the community. Cr Williams said restrictions would remain in areas where they were still necessary due to the presence of sensitive wildlife. Here on Redlands Coast we have many naturally wonderful public spaces and we want our community to be able to share these with their four-legged friends, where appropriate. Councillors voted at today’s general meeting to engage with the community about the proposed changes. Consultation opens through Council’s Your Say webpage on 9 November 2020 and closes on 6 December 2020. Cr Williams said if the proposed changes were adopted, dogs would need to be on a lead and under effective control at all times. Our Animal Management Team will also ensure there is appropriate signage in all the areas. Proposed changes to the Register of Animals in Public Places: Remove prohibition on dogs in the park area on Beth Boyd Park, Thorneside but retain prohibition on the foreshore/seashore. Remove prohibition on dogs on the foreshore/seashore at Redland Bay Esplanade, Redland Bay (where Grey and Bay streets intersect). Remove prohibition and allow dogs at any time on lead Swamp Box, Capalaba. Remove restriction and allow dogs at any time on lead Yeo Park, Victoria Point; Wellington Point Reserve; and foreshore and seashore at the end of Wilson Street Victoria Point. Include the foreshore/seashore in front of swimming enclosures in Redlands Coast as prohibited areas for horses, camels and donkeys.
