24.01.2022 Telltale - the ‘wish I could film this properly’ video.... it’s only an iPhone attempt, not sure if hand shake is exhaustion or trying my best not to fall into the muddy pond. The plan is to return for the next Brisbane to Gladestone Yacht race, it’s going to be a magic moment watching all the boats sailing past, we can then get professionals to document the artwork...’oh my’ really fancy a drone to capture this...start saving
24.01.2022 Telltale - lift study in cad. We ran engineering checks for the lift points way back during fabrication, so it should be fairly straight forward. The base support frame being designed to allow a pivoting action so that the lift could be completed by a single crane. Once vertical this frame will be removed, then the artwork can be swung around & lowered onto the foundation piers. That’s the theory anywy. My only niggling concern was those rag bolts and plate hole size being really snug, especially as we placed conduit over the threads to protect the powder coat.
19.01.2022 Telltale - all 3 artworks unloaded, poised ready for install day...final checks to all hardware needed for foundations, another run through of lift study & check that weather forecast.... , can you believe it, after months of dry rain & wind expected the scheduled lift day
17.01.2022 Telltale - install day... 5am site check, after a night of heavy rain the site was rather flooded 1st up rush off to the local bunnings to buy wellies! The Hutchies boys helped out making pallet pontoons around the footings which saved boot overflow potential. With the wind window looking good, we pressed ahead. This video captures the second sail install; well the fun rotation bit anyways. The 1st sail went up so quickly, concerns of bolt fitting soon vanishing. Pulling out the small, protective conduit being the hardest bit! Soo stocked to finally see these objects vertical after all this time!
03.01.2022 Telltale - all three elements finally up, woo hoo Thankfully after a very wet install day the sun popped out to grab a few snaps. Somehow the wellies did not get breached stomping around the moat undertaking final tie down bolt tensions. Then it’s onto pack up and loading all the transport jigs, road cases of tools whilst the weather holds.
