As part of the Queensland Governments Economic Recovery Strategy up to $100 million is being made available to deliver a second round of grants, ... 50% of the funding specifically earmarked for regional small businesses located outside of South East Queensland. 14.01.2022 #privacy Well my blood got to boiling point this morning! At least I am now "hot under the collar" I received an email from a business asking me to sign an agreement. The digital document was provided by a 3rd party I'm not a aware of. At the bottom of it was a "check box" to consent to the 3rd party provider's Privacy Policy". ... You can't proceed without accepting this Privacy Policy. Without doing so I cannot sign the document and therefore cannot secure something that is very important. Looking at more Privacy Statements this is a common type of clause. I can nearly live with it being a clause with my actual service provider. But not for the 3rd party which is facilitating a contract. Because it is usually buried in the depths of the Privacy Policy and its too much effort I often sign anyway. Now I think it is time to raise my voice and be heard. I am contacting the OIAC. Businesses should not be able to force customers to sign away their privacy so easily. There should be a simple opt-in especially on a digital document: I Opt-in to marketing from XYZ I Opt-in to XYZ providing my details to 3rd parties The same company also washes it hands of looking after your data igf they use an off-shore company for say data storage or call-centre and that company uses your data without permission. "In particular, your Personal Information may be disclosed to third parties in such countries in which those parties or their, or our, computer systems may be located from time to time, where it may be used for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. In these circumstances, you consent to the collection, use, storage and processing of your Personal Information in those countries, without us being responsible under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) for such use (or for any breach). Where such parties are located overseas, you may have rights to enforce such parties' compliance with applicable data protection laws, but you might not have recourse against those parties under the Australian Privacy Act in relation to how those parties treat your personal information." They send your data off-shore and they say "good luck" if it is used inappropriately. Is it time we stood up for our rights? Please leave your thoughts below. 03.01.2022 This is an excellent article by Gene Marks "On CRM: When To Buy HubSpot, And When Not To" (via Forbes). Gene hits the nail on the head with this point: "Hubspot....is not a CRM product. It is a marketing platform that includes CRM capabilities."... Like Gene I believe Hubspot is a great platform but if what you really want is a CRM to create a single source of customer truth and ensure you follow-up meeting, leads and quote and send emails. Then Hubspot is like using a sledgehammer to crack a peanut. If you are considering a CRM or marketing automation tool you should consider: why you want it, what you want it to do, and what it MUST do what resources are required to implement it what are the benefits and return on investment. Neither a CRM or marketing automation tool are a magic bullet to increasing leads, sales, revenue or profits. Both require effort and resources but marketing automation is a whole different ballgame.
