23.01.2022 As the weather heats up and we start to spend more time outside it’s important that we are drinking enough water to keep our body hydrated. If you find it difficult to ensure you are drinking the recommended 6-8 glasses of water a day, why not try adding some flavours to keep it interesting. #comingoutofCOVID #healthyhabits #healthyhepburnshire #helpinghepburn

18.01.2022 Through the Community Connector at the Shire office, DNC have heard about a person in need of assistance who has injured himself now needs some assistance with mowing the lawns at his home (in central Daylesford). A small donation could be made if you are able to assist. Job would be backyard, frontyard & naturestrip and should be a one-off job. If you are in a position to assist someone who needs a helping hand, or know someone who may be able to assist, please call through to the Shire's Community Connector and let them know. They are fielding lots of calls at the moment from people in need, but this one we thought we might be able to help with. Please call Tamara on 0408 934 915 if you can assist.

17.01.2022 Do you know a student who is in debt because of inappropriate conduct of a VET Provider: Read on! From the Ombudsman's Office: Student Debt removal through the VET FEE-HELP Student Redress Measures:... The Commonwealth Ombudsman is seeking your help in letting your community know about the VET FEE-HELP Student Redress Measures (the redress measures). The redress measures came into effect at the beginning of 2019 and provide a remedy for students who incurred a debt under the VET FEE-HELP scheme due to the inappropriate conduct of their education provider, by removing all or part of a VET FEE-HELP debt. Applications under the redress measures need to be made to the VET Student Loan Ombudsman by 31 December 2020. As an organisation with links into your community, we would value your help in getting to those students who may be eligible to have their VET FEE-HELP debt removed. What is ‘inappropriate conduct’? Under the redress measures, ‘inappropriate conduct’ includes: being offered an incentive (such as a laptop) to enrol even though the person had no intention of completing the course failing to provide accurate information about the course before the person enrolled, leading to the person enrolling in a course that wasn’t suitable and was different to what they believed not withdrawing a student’s enrolment when asked to do so by the student, leading them to incur a VET FEE-HELP debt. Please note that this is about VET FEE-HELP debts only, and that it does not apply to VET Student Loans debts. Complaints can be made through the Ombudsman's website, just select ‘VFH outreach referral 2020’ in the ‘how found’ field. If you have any questions you should contact the Ombudsman by email at: [email protected], or call them on 1300 362 072 between 9am-12pm.

13.01.2022 What a wonderful day we had on the DNC "Wellness Day Trains"! Two trains, 70+ people and lots of smiling faces. DNC would like to acknowledge the financial assistance of the Hepburn Shire Council who helped make our Wellness days possible. The "Wellness Day" was a concept designed to get people connecting again after the long lockdown we all experienced. A series of 3 events were held over 3 months, culminating with this event today. Each Neighbourhood Centre in the ...Shire took part in the initiative and each centre had something different on offer. We would also like to thank the volunteers of the Daylesford Spa Country Railway who did an amazing job getting the train ready for our event. Our participants loved the train trip, many of whom had never been on our local train at all, so this event was a great opportunity to not only showcase one of our regions top attractions but to give people an opportunity to do something that they wouldn't normally be able to do. Today's audience were appreciative and grateful to be taking part in our Community event. Also on the list to be thanked, is the Hepburn Shire Libraries who provided Story Time. The littlies loved it! They sang along, listened to the stories and were totally captivated by Di's story-telling prowess. A big thank you also goes to Coles Daylesford for assisting with some of the munchies and fruit that we had on offer. What an extraordinary way to wind up a fairly ordinary year! Bigger,Brighter, Better in 2021! Thank you to all who attended today. We hope you all had a wonderful day out.
