24.01.2022 What is Muscle Release Therapy? Equine Muscle Release Therapy (EMRT) & Cats & Canine Muscle Release Therapy (CCMRT) are the original Bowen Therapy for horses, dogs & cats devised over 30 years ago by Allison Goward. As a practitioner I have undertaken 18 months of study to qualify as an EMRT Therapist and a further 6 months to be qualified in CCMRT. ... To keep my accreditations, I will have to complete refreshers every two years. This is also a requirement for my insurer. This bodywork modality is gentle, holistic and non invasive and some of the issues it may assist include: - Pain & inflammation - Lameness - Digestive issues - Breathing problems - Anxiety - Muscular imbalances - Lymphatic issues - Assistance in recovery from illness, injury or surgery. The gentle rolling moves are made at key points on an animals body. These moves work over the fascia and connective tissue. Injury &/or stress cause the fascia to become hard or stuck, reducing elasticity & restricting the flow of body fluids. The moves activate nerve cells within the fascia. These cells carry messages via the nervous system to the brain to reprogram the area of trauma. By releasing tension within the fascia, the body changes at its own pace & helps bring it back into balance. This internationally recognised modality is endorsed by the Bowen Association of Australia, Bowtech The Original Bowen Technique & the International Institute of Complimentary Therapies. Treatments are available within Mudgee and surrounding towns including, Premer, Coolah & Dunedoo.
23.01.2022 Toby has been with us 10 weeks on Tuesday 23rd June. In this time, Ive used every move & every procedure I learnt during the 18 months of my equine muscle release therapy course. When he came he fitted a 6ft 3 rug. He now fits 6ft6.... As his muscles, tendons & fascia have relaxed he has unfolded & gotten longer. Hes taller too but we didnt officially measure him, just guessed over 16.1 maybe 16.2..

17.01.2022 Once youve been trained to assess, you cannot turn it off and unsee. I cropped this photo from a for sale post. This beautiful horse won the garland and the sash & hopefully was rewarded with a EMRT treatment to bring his body back into balance!! If one quarter of the horses quadruped system is out of balance, the load is distributed elsewhere, as shown. ... A wise horseman once told me a square horse is a balanced horse! How square is your horse?

15.01.2022 Can EMRT help with horses that drag their hind toes? The horse below was my beautiful 1st cross QH mare Topaz. She dragged her toe clips out in her hinds and short stepped. She was the first horse I ever had an EMRT treatment done on, back in 2002. Maureen from Gulgong, in a few treatments had Topaz tracking up & lifting her toes again. ... Maureen had already successfully treated me for a whiplash injury sustained at work in 2001, this was my first experience with Bowen Therapy. Toe dragging responds very well to EMRT. Bringing the muscles, tendons & ligaments of the hind end back into balance gets the horse moving back under itself and moving correctly from behind. If your horse (or dog) is dragging their toes and short stepping EMRT may help.
14.01.2022 After the drought our paddocks are full of clover. We managed a lymphatic horse for 11 years after being poisoned by something he ate. As the toxins were released he had his 1st bout of laminitis. He was 6 years old I check my horses digital pulses daily. If youre not familiar with taking it or have forgotten, heres a great article to refresh your memory.

13.01.2022 There are many ways for an animal to show their gratitude during or after a treatment. Having my boots licked by a horse is a new one !
12.01.2022 Yearly dental checks and maintenance with qualified Equine Dental Vet Lily 24, had grown a few hooks since her last check. Dental work is important any age but especially for an aged horse so she can chew properly, avoid food impactions of the throat and digest her food properly. Toby 5, had received excellent care during his race career and his teeth were in good order. ... The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is between the mandible and the cranium. It is covered by fibrous tissue. The TMJ does not function in isolation from the rest of the body. It is part of a closed system involving everything forward of the front leg. Ill be following up with an EMRT treatment in a week with specific moves for the TMJ. The TMJ procedure may help with; Mastication (chewing) problems uneven flexion neck muscle wastage sluggish lymphatics/congestion inability to yield to the bit head shaking cervical subluxation ear & eye disorders

09.01.2022 Im absolutely in AWE of this work EMRT and the power it has in the body Nemo came to live with us a couple of years ago as a 2 year old with the severely un...dershot jaw..... all indications are this condition is hereditary and it is a genetic malformation and cannot be changed without sugical intervention and wiring the jaw ... I assessed him and saw he had a few bio mechanical body issues especially around his poll he also had had an atrophied descended testicle ....which often is an indicator of a problem that run from the hips flexures right through to the jaw.... this can to me indicate birthing issues.. over the past 30 years of this EMRT work ..I have come to many conclusions of what can happen to horses as they go through the birthing process and their first few days of life on this planet ...my feeling of assessing ....Nemo head alignment was that he had restrictions that had inherited with stopped him from releasing and lowering the top of his jaw... and has mandible had some issues in being constricted ......anyway the long and the short of it is after 2 years he is finally opening up!! and his jaw and teeth are aligning - meaning he can eat and graze .... this work continues in the body long after the treatment has been thats why for all my clients maintenance treatment are only once every 6 months..... or unless they have an injury or body issue.. with athletes it may be a little more as they are more prone to injury .... I am so happy..... actually I am ecstatic that the last 6 months has been the biggest change in Nemos jaw he last had a treatment and December 2019 and hasnt had one since I had the equine dentist Brett have a look as I thought he was going to have teeth issues.... but I think we are on the way for this boy to be able to have a normal life grazing and eating..... all I can say is thank you god the universe for allowing me to be on this planet and do this work to help Horses... 07.01.2022 Pattersons Curse Toxicity I recently treated a horse under veterinary care with Pattersons Curse poisoning. Liver damage had been diagnosed by the vet. Patersons curse contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids which are particularly toxic to horses. Liver failure is an outcome and may be evident in the yellowing of the sclera of the horses eyes, as shown in the first picture. ... He was also depressed & cranky, which was totally out of character. The horse had begun to lose his topline, he had areas of fluid build up, as his lymphatic system reached overload & struggled to deal with the toxins, as shown in the second photo. All EMRT moves have a lymphatic effect but the protocol for lymphatic congestion is to gradually open the pathways so we don’t overload organs and other body systems with toxins. When I followed up with the owner recently after his final treatment, the yellowing of sclera was gone and his topline was improving. The areas of fluid build up had smoothed out and the tightness in his back end had also gone! She advised he was great! Back to his old self!
