25.01.2022 The Casino Netball Association Incorporated Finals were played on the weekend in front of a good number of family and friends at Colley Park. Congratulations go to out not just to the winning teams, but to everyone participating in this great local comp. There isn't a winter sport association who didn't think their comp would end prematurely - but you did it! 23.01.2022 I was fortunate to get up close to the Richmond Range Rugby Club during the latter stages of the season, a fantastic club based in the small town of Mallanganee, some 30 km's west of Casino. 22.01.2022 The first full game I took in for the afternoon was the 2nd Grade match between the "Home away from Home" team the Casino Bulls taking on 'border bubble' club Casuarina Beach Rugby Barbarians. It was a tight game, with Casino taking the honours with a late try, wearing down their opponents. 21.01.2022 Gallery of the Under 10's Junior Rugby League (Group 1) Grand Final between Casino RSM Cougars JRL and Kyogle Turkeys, held last Saturday at the Football Ground in Kyogle. The game was a see-sawing affair, with Kyogle getting the early jump, but the young Cougars were determined and wouldn't give in. The final score at the siren was a thrilling 18-16 victory to the Casino RSM Cougars. Every player on the day should be proud of their effort, these young stars put everything on... the line. Congratulations to everyone involved for a classic game of Rugby League. 14.01.2022 In Evans Head today for Rah Rah Rugby finals from the Far North Coast Rugby competition. First up are the Casino Bullettes CD Evans River in the women’s Final, followed by the Presidents Cup major semi between Richmond Range Rugby Club and Evans River Killer Whales.

13.01.2022 Images from the GLT Grand Final between the Kyogle Turkeys and the Ballina Seagulls Junior Rugby League Club. The Girls League Tag final was a fast-paced match, with each team testing the others defensive line. The Seagulls got the jump, but the Turkey's never gave up and kept hammering away at the line. 08.01.2022 In today's Northern Star; The Lismore Swans Junior Aussie Rules Football Club have provided NFP organisation Human Nature with a big bag full of footballs. Human Nature Adventure Therapy conduct Mental Heath and Wellbeing programmes through Adventure Therapy - expeditions into the NSW wilderness with Disadvantaged and At-Risk children from the NSW Northern Rivers.... 07.01.2022 On Saturday the Casino Bulls Womens team took on the local Evans River Killer Whales Rugby Club in a Preliminary Final on a warm afternoon at Stan Payne Oval. The game started with plenty of intent from both teams. Evans found some speed on the flanks and jumped the Bullette's, however the girls never gave in and finished off strongly, eventually going down to the hosts 37-17. #CountryRugby #WomensRugby #EvansRiver #NorthernRiversRugby #dcsportsphotography #FinalsTime

06.01.2022 The #PresidentsCup Major Semi between Evans River Killer Whales Rugby Club and Richmond Range Rugby Club was played on Saturday at Stan Payne Oval in Evans Head. It was a tight, tense affair with no holds barred. The pressure could be felt on the sidelines, with the Killer Whales leading 8-7 at half time with one try apiece. 06.01.2022 The Presidents Cup match was well underway when I turned up, but I couldn't wait to get the kit unpacked and start snapping. The Kyogle Cockies Rugby Union Club were up against Byron Bay Rugby Club, and there was a bit of feeling on display in front of a vocal crowd. The standard is fantastic, and they were definitely playing for keeps! 06.01.2022 Here's a small video I produced of the Tabulam Bridge in northern NSW. Today the Land and Environment Court will decide whether the old bridge will remain alongside its replacement. The bridge is the longest single-span wooden deck bridge in the Southern Hemisphere, and the only 5-span truss bridge of its kind built in Australia. It was built in 1899 using local labour, including hand tools, horses and bullock trains, and was the first Clarence River crossing to be build abov...e flood levels, ensuring it remained open during the wettest times. Local Bundjalung Elder Queen Ponjam Derry, Great Grandmother to Tony Mundine OAM, lived in a hut under the bridge, and the WWI Light Horse Brigade was set up by Lieutenant General Harry Chauval in the area, using the bridge as a training resource. #Tabulam #NSW #northernrivers #NorthernNSW #Heritage #Culture #dcsportsphotography #architecture

01.01.2022 I was fortunate to spend an early spring afternoon with the Casino Netball Association Incorporated for Round 9 of local competition. Casino Netball run a popular competition with no less than 26 teams, all sponsored by local businesses, competing at the Colley Park sports complex. They make the game appealing to everyone, with player ages ranging from 5 through to 75 (and counting!), and judging by the camaraderie and smiles on the day, the competition is furious but friendl...y.
