19.01.2022 Riley Gurry took part in a new program we launched this year for 12-15-year-olds, Get Connected. Riley and his mum, Kaisha were special guests at our recent AGM where they shared their thoughts about the benefits of the program - thank you Riley and Kaisha. We are thrilled to hear from the dynamic young people we support. Their stories resonate with their peers and let them know what is possible with the right support. To know Riley learned a lot from the mentors and the othe...r deaf and hard of hearing participants that took part from across Australia is, to quote Riley, precious. This storytelling tells us what we need to do, what works, what needs improving and it also tells us what young deaf and hard of people want more of. We held two sold-out Get Connected programs this year and as a result of their success we’ll be launching more from the beginning of 2021 and we’ll tailor it to different age groups Learn more and register for future Get Connected programs https://www.deafchildrenaustralia.org.au/event https://youtu.be/2pitk9unxVM
19.01.2022 The support of our generous donors has helped deaf and hard of hearing young people realise their dreams for over 150 years. Our Youth Grants are funded by kind donations from people like you. They provide a unique platform to showcase talent across Australia that is awaiting an opportunity to shine. 17-year-old Saskia Newman received a Deaf Children Australia Youth Grant that allowed her to compete in the Australian All Schools Championships held by Athletics Australia in Pe...rth last December. As Christmas 2020 approaches, we reflect on that courageous spirit that drove our founder, FJ Rose more than 150 years ago. His legacy remains alive and well in the quality programs and services Deaf Children Australia run today. We need your support now more than ever. Your generosity can be life-changing for deaf and hard of hearing children and young people. Please send your donation today, call 03 9539 5356 or visit deafchildrenaustralia.org.au thank you.
